I don't know that much about foxreal but don't get the freeware version. Its isn't freeware it is trial ware with a big foxreal logo right in the middle of the converted file.
I tried playing movies off of my USB drive and can not get them to play. I converted the movie into AVI , didnt work, then tried MP4, Still didnt work. I used the players that came preinstalled on the Iconia, dont remember what they are called off hand. Do any of you think that the issue is that its being played off of a USB Drive? I have pictures from vacation on the same drive and they can be displayed on the Iconia no problem.
You can follow this guide. Though Handbrake is not my favorite app, I prefer Avidemux. But looks like Handbrake is much easier to use though, all you have to do is select the device preset, I imagine "iPhone 4" or "iPad" presets will work nicely.
For these Tegra 2 tablets, the main thing is not to use too high of compression settings which require more performance to decode. It's better to encode things in XVID, which is H.263, the file size will be larger, but it will be easier to decode thus smoother playback. You will likely need to use MoboPlayer to recognize XVID files though.
Also in the Handbrake setting, you can choose "FFmpeg" instead of H.264, slightly lower quality, but encode much much faster.
