Root Best order to do things: Root, OTA, Forever

I am unrooted. Can anyone help me with their suggestion on the best order to do things?

I would like to get as close to a rooted Froyo as possible. Not sure which rom I like the best, looking forward to trying several out.

Root - Leaked OTA (I assume I need this for 720p) - Forever?
What to do?

Root first.
unrEVOked forever.
Install the new radio with Forever, now you have the 720p functionality. You do not need the leaked OTA.
Pick a new ROM if you want the goodness of FroYo
