Best phone for ATT 3G

Anybody care to add their 2 cents? I was waiting for the Xperia X10. I have been doing a lot of research and from what I am hearing over and over is that HTC's equipment/materials are noticeably better. I have hear the camera on the X10 is better, but I have heard that it doesnt feel as high end as the HTC gear (HTC Legend, HTC HD2, Nexus One).

Being on At&t, I am considering the HTC HD2 and flashing it with the Android software (which I have read folks have done). I am also considering the Nexus One. From my research and what I am hearing over and over, those are the two devices to beat (That work on At&t 3G that is). I hear the HTC EVO is supposed to be bomb, but it is for Sprint I believe... I wish HTC would also make unlocked versions of each of their phones for all networks so users could pick and choose.

I was really excited for the X10, I love Sony stuff and most of my stuff is Sony. It just seems it was released too late and not to the standard that keeps it at the top of the list with these other phones.

Whats your take on your X10 so far?

nexus one is baller man. got it and havent looked back. FTR i've only used the backflip, milestone and nexus one, so i dont know much about other handsets. but i really dig the nexus one, you can easily put cyanogen on it.

I'm waiting to make any decision until I see what the "HTC AT&T Exclusive" Android phone is. Whatever it is, it should be "launched" before June 30th (end of 1H 2010). It's hard to wait... man is it hard. But so far I'm muddling through.

Don't hold your breath. Just like att touted the htc fuze was "exclusive" but vzw and sprint had the touchpro, which is the same model, aside from a minor screen difference, (vzw and sprint screen was bigger) cdma instead of gsm, and carrier specific bloatware.

Is it supposed to have a "keyboard"? I'm probably going back to AT&T, as T-Mobile has got some building penetration issues, despite having good coverage in my area. I really wanted the HTC TP2, but it was kinda flimsy, and the reception seemed flaky, compared to my rock solid, constant full bars Moto Q, also on AT&T. I love my N900, and the $10/mo 7Mb/2Mb data plan, but it sux going into "some" stores, and losing signal. That and I'm going thru Slingbox withdrawl.

I'll wait for the HTC release, and if it has the same issues as the TP2, I'll have to figure out a way to get a Telus Milestone.

Yeah, this is very rough waiting for the 'exclusive' HTC phone... I'm thinking they may have shot themselves in the foot though because I didn't see any HTC phone on the roadmap that could be exclusive unless they are thinking about digging up the legend from somewhere which would be a horrid step backwards. but par for the course for AT&T

Yeah att has a thing about taking an existing phone, making a minor adjustment and slaping a new name on it to call it exclusive.

I was wanting the same thing as you and after doing exhaustive research it came down to the Sony Xperia 10a (Rogers) or Nexus One. I have had nothing but SE phones for years and was ecstatic about the first android offering. However alot of people have been very critical of the phone (still was going to get it) and then the issue of the camera flash became a deal breaker. Apparently you have to go through a series of steps to turn on the light that functions as the flash - ridiculous on such a high end phone.

A few people told me on different message boards that the Nexus One has a great camera (with proper flash) and is the best phone they have ever owned. Ordered mine today and can't wait to get it. Hope this helps...

i found one on ebay, these are the antenna specs.

System:
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, HSDPA 900 / 2100

i got it in a DAY, and according to the sellers page it supports the right settings, but im only getting an EDGE signal on the top :(

Check the part in bold, that's why you couldn't get 3G. HSDPA needs to have 850/1900 for it to get 3G on At&t. GSM 850/1900 is just for EDGE, but you need to check the 3G/HSDPA bands for 850/1900 for At&t.

With that said, I have the At&t 3G-compatible Nexus One and have been really happy with it. The biggest complaint I've read about is its multitouch support, but for what I use it for, it works great. I love the form factor too.

I ordered mine straight from Google on the day it was announced. Unlocked and flashed ROMs within the first week :)
