Root Best rom

Hello guy's and gal's.
Can some one give me a few hints for the best rom to install on my Htc desire v 2.2.2. Have rooted phone and tried to install cyanogen mod and my phone got stuck in the skateboarder loop. Thankf**k I backed up my stock rom. So any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers Kev

Did you wipe data before flashing? Did you read any of the faqs here first?
Hi there. Yes to all. Have tried it three times and everytime is goes in to the skateboard loop. Could it be a clockwork issue. I have seen threads about this issue hence the question about the best rom for upgrade to my stock 2.2.2 vodafone.
Cheers Kev

Give us some details and we'll see if we can figure it out.
Specs, versions are the most important followed by methods used for rooting and flashing etc. As much info as you can really.

Hi there.
Method used for rooting was Revolutionary which seems to have worked as both Rom manager and Titanium back up and super user all install and seem to work apart from clockworkmod installing the Cyanogen mod rom 7.03 which after install says complete but on reboot goes into the skateboarder loop.
Any ideas for fix or better rom would be good my phone is running out of memory again.

Kev
ps cleared cache and factory data wipe before each attempted install.

What are you using Rom manager for?
Ha ha I dont know?. A friend told me to use that for rom installations and backups of my original rom which I must say saved my phone from being a brick. What is a better option?.

Kev
ps thanks for any info giving

Kev, the better option is just to boot straight into recovery (boot while pressing the volume down key, then select recovery from the menu), then do everything directly from there. On the Desire that's more reliable than ROM Manager - other devices may differ.

Haha. I kind of read that like:

"Calls from a BT landline will cost 25p - Charges from mobile operators may be considerably higher"

Yes Clockwork is fine., It makes backups if you boot into it. Please have a read of the rooting faq in the "all things root" sticky thread.

Can someone recommend a good "lite" rom? I want something that runs fast, maybe a few new features, but is bare bones and quick. I'm thinking dGB or Redux?

Er, yes I can recommend dGB but its for advanced users. Ideally people who know what to expect from.AOSP roms

Redux for me. If you like it then dGB is the next logical step but requires a little more knowledge applying as you need to change the Hboot to fully benefit from it.
Edit: I preferred Redux 1.2 but that's just me.

go for redux, it's rock solid. dGB is also, but like said before it's a more advanced rom which needs a custom hboot to get the best from it.

Hi there update. Have now
tried installing cynogenmod from normal recovery rather that rom manager and still getting the skateboard loop. It just wont install. Have read the guides for rooting etc. So what am I doing wrong.

Cheers Kev

it might be bootlooping because you havent installed the rom properly. Have a read wherever you downloaded the rom, it should have a guide for installing it

You are certain that you have a good copy of the ROM zip? And you've not made any other modifications (e.g. flashed a hboot smaller than CM7r2)?

And you're definitely flashing the desire version? And then gsm/cdma version is correct? And you're wiping everything correctly?

and does the rom require an EXT partition?
if you want my advice on an awesome rom. id go for DGB anytime! as already said its not really for the freshly rooted, it requires a fair bit of reading (The rooting Sticky) to gain the needed knowledge, but my second choice would be redux 1.2!
but dont be afraid to ask as many questions as you want, we are all a friendly bunch!
but would you mind also doing as SUroot asked and perform the vol down and power button and tell us all the info listed!
thankyou.
