Root Best root setup iyo

thinking about biting the bullet and rooting my charge is gb doesnt do an ota sometime really soon. what do you think are the best things to change on the charge after root
 
The user interface and all the stock apps (GummyCharge removes them all and replaces TouchWiz with Launcher 2). Also, a custom kernel (also included in the Gummy ROM) will allow you to utilize Voodoo lagfix as well as over/under clock the processor as well as adjust the voltage.

After you're rooted you can install root-only apps. One if the most useful, imo, is Titanium Backup which can back up all your apps as well as their associated data.

Overall, rooting allows for much more customization as well as the ability to tweak your phone as you see fit.
 
As far as setup is concerned;

GummyCharge FE 1.9.1 (EE4)
imo's Twitter-found kernel 1.33
Voodoo Lagfix enabled
SetCPU 1000 - 10000 MHz

Runs slicker than snot in glass. Can't wait for Gummy FE 2.0.

Im too running Gummy 1.9.1 with voodoo, I just rooted and downloaded setcpu yesterday and am looking for porformance with an increase in battery life profile.

I have it set to a max of 13000mhz but leave it on conservative, did you adjust the voltage too or leave them at 0?

If you're overclocking you don't want to decrease voltage. Think of your CPU as an engine and the voltage as horsepower. If you're going to supercharge your engine you don't want to decrease the HP, one negates the other.
 
I did find that with the new kernel I get the same performance not OC'd as I did with the prepackaged one OC'd to 13000. Plus I'm getting better battery life now. It can be gotten through the Dev's Twitter page.

OK, yeah when it was freezing, rebooting was right after start up or at idle, Is 1000mhz too low? So because the crashes I restored the default voltage settings all to 0 all the way up to 13000mhz and its more stable.

Also what do you have your screen off profile set to? Can I get an idea on battery life?
 
i have been thinking that gummy jar would be the way to go. they had a stable rom for the droid x too. i am trying (so hard) to wait for the gingerbread ota but i have no idea when that is coming. i have always been leary of overclocking though, seems like it would make the processor run hotter than what it should. i dont really know for sure though seeing as i have never done it
