Best settings for the camera?

Only had the phone for a week and I can tell the camera is good but I've had some problems getting the focus right and getting that saturated colour look, erm, look as well as when you put it up on your computer.

What of the settings, scenes and modes do you guys use the most?

Also how I do get it to save my settings? It seems to refresh back to dafault :S

I'm starting to tinker with the settings a little while I learn the basics but I use 'Camera360' from the market aswell for additional effects. And there's quite a few nice ones too. I chose that app' mainly for it's HDR effects...
