Best SMS Client

Hi all,

Before I ask this question, know that it EXCLUDES Handcent. I find Handcent extremely unreliable and unstable. So, excluding Handcent, best SMS client for a frequent texter looking for tons of customization? Many posts bring up the big names, Handcent, ChompSMS, GoSMS, but what I'm sure many have noticed, the best apps are usually the rather uncomercialized ones. So does anyone have any suggestions other than these?

Thanks!

I have tried all the major ones, and I always go back to GoSMS Pro. It is very reliable, highly customizable, and has lots of extra features the others don't (like a private inbox and scheduled messages)

Is GoSMS Pro available for IPhone?

Do you know how the private inbox feature is implemented? Are they relying on the sender and receiver having a shared password? How is encryption used? I get the feeling they are just sending unencrypted SMS messages but then moving those to private encrypted storage and then deleting from the normal SMS storage. That's not really secure messaging.

Is there any plugin for GoSMS Pro that would implement real encryption for sending / receiving SMS so that anyone who planted a spy application would not be able to read those messages?

Should we be concerned about the fact that this application seems to be developed in China?

It is not encrypted. It does exactly what you said, it moves the SMS or MMS to a private inbox that is password protected and deletes the original. It is more so that anyone looking at your phone would not be able to see messages from a particular contact. You can also adjust the notifications for the contacts that go to that inbox.

I do not know if the message would be deleted before a spy application would catch it. I just know that when I have used it, it worked great for what I needed it to.

A spy application would catch the message before or at same moment as GoSMS Pro, so the only surefire protection would be to actually encrypt the SMS message before it is every sent via SMS.

I tried GOSms Pro because it got such good reviews and I love GODevTeam but the app just seemed a bit buggy. Could just be my phone which is the case many times, so I'll be sure to try it out again when I get my GNex. Quick question. Does GOSms have a notification LED customization option like Handcent?

Yeah but the private inbox isn't intended to block out spyware from what I can tell. It's function seems to be to provide security for your inbox in the event that someone takes your phone and tries going through it

Yes, you can change the color and blink rate. I started using it on my Nexus S and currently use it on my GSII to it should work great on the Galaxy Nexus
