best twitter app

anyone see a save search function on Touiteur? or a way to view your saved searches? also is it just me or does it lack the 'user' and 'trends' option in search found on other apps?

im pretty new to the whole twitter thing but is going through 'search' the only way to join/view a discussion by various users on say... #droid or #android ? and why are hash marks (#) used?

Hash marks are used to create a hashtag, it's like a keyword to search for. Many twitter clients have the ability to click on a hashtag and do the search.. which makes searching twitter very easy :)

Little quote from hashtags.wikia.com:

Hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding additional context and metadata to your tweets. They're like tags on Flickr, only added inline to your post. You create a hashtag simply by prefixing a word with a hash symbol: #hashtag.
Hashtags is a great way to follow community driven news chatter on microblogs.

Twidroid seems the best for me so far... i like the look and how when it updates, it stays at the last tweet you viewed, doesn't automatically scroll up to the newest tweets...

I've tried lots of twitter apps and I kept going back to Twidroid. I checked out Touiteur after reading this thread and I really like it. I haven't felt the need to go back to twidroid yet. I like how easy it is to switch between your lists.

hmmm... i'm installing Touiteur now... gonna give it a try... i like apps with black background (less battery drain on our amoled screens... )... will see how it performs...

I'm using Seesmic. For the most part I really like it, but At least half of the time I try to refresh I get a connection error.

I know it is not my phone that is the problem. If this continues I'll probably switch to something else.

not feeling Touiteur very much.... Twidroid more intuitive... less pull downs and menus, more straightforward... but i'll use it for a few days to see if i warm up to it...

i like twidroid a lot but im just confused after doing a search, is it possible to add a comment after? it seems like after i click search and try to insert a comment it just brings me to the 'search' thingy again...

i also asked the dev about tourtier (spelling again) and the search user/saved searches and he said it's coming very soon

in your opinion, whats the fastest twitter app? i think seesmic and touituer fastest and tweetcaster being the slowest..

crazy, i sttill have 4 twitter apps (seesmic, twidroid, tweetcaster, and touiteur) all on my phone! i can't decide which to keep!

i know im going to keep seesmic (fast and everything i need), but I want to purchase one too but it seems like each has its faults.

for twidroid i STILL don't know how to tweet after i do a search without going back to the main list. when i push the tweet button it just brings me back to the search bar.

touiteur will probably be my favorite once the dev implements saved searches/user searches.

and tweetcaster i enjoy but the screen seems so overwhelming...

maybe i should just stick to seesmic till i see how updates come along instead of switching back and forth everytime i want to check twitter ;p

I'll probably keep more than one Twitter app on my phone was I have more internal memory. Not enough on the Hero...but with the Supersonic...I'm good!:D

Touiteur still doesn't work for me correctly, bummer...I liked the look of it.

This might sound silly, but I'm looking for a Twitter app that doesn't require an account. I'm not big into Twitter, but there are a few things I like to follow. I realize that I can just as easily use m.twitter.com, but I have Iconfactory's Twitterrific on my iPod, and it's very smooth and has a great interface (no account required).

So far, I've downloaded Twidroid, Tweetcaster and Touiteur -- all to no avail. I'm sensing that this isn't a very in-demand feature, and I'm not really interested in installing many more apps only to remove them a minute later.

Does anyone know of a Twitter app that doesn't require an account?

Nobody has mentioned Twidgit. It is very minimalistic which appeals to me and the widget can be set to a black (semi transparent) background. You can only set notification intervals, tweet (pics, text, etc.) and refresh your tweets.

I don't need all the functionality of twitter in the app so Twidgit works great for me. Simple and the widgit looks great.

I'm currently using tweetcaster. Nice layout, simple. But... what I really really really want is a twitter client that can filter out certain tweets.

One of my friends has the habit to listen and automatically dump his music through bit.fm or something similar. I really would like to filter that away. Unfortunately, the only filtering client I could find allows "positive" filters only (e.g.: you give it a keyword and it shows tweets that contain that word, I want it the other way around).

Anyone?

touiteur been acting weird for me now, not displaying pics n stuff

i want to love tweetcaster but theres so much on the screen goin on that it seems to slow down the scrolling as it loads
i would get twidroid right now if only when i go into a search i could type a msg out right there instead of going back 'home'.

soo i guess its seesmic for now

I like Twidroid Pro as well. I have lots of accounts and its easy to keep track. I did have issues getting it set up, but once I did I was happy Spent the money.
Recently a bunch of new Twitter app appeared in the market I want to try.

i uninstalled Twidroid since i've gotten used to and like Touiteur... when uninstalling, noticed another reason Touiteur>Twidroid.... Touiteur = 1.9MB... Twidroid = 2.9MB... when you start to get a lot of apps installed, memory can become scarce, so i've been uninstalling anything i don't use much... and if chosing between two similar apps, that I like both, i'll go with the smaller one... to save on precious app memory...

That's why I left Twidroid because it was so big. Mine was over 3MB installed. I have found that I like Touiteur and/or Tweetcaster just as much and they are both under 2MB.
