Best video converter app

Anyone know of an encoder that can monitor a folder and then AUTO convert. I used ipodifier but the developer seems to have stopped real support and it doesnt allow much in the way of adj to the settings?

That maks no sense. You are more liekly to have problems ith suepr than handbrake

handbrake is by far the easiest to use with the best results. It has a massive user base as well.

New to the board but been around awhile. Ive gotta say i have tried numerous converters and none of them work or are to complex for an average person. Snowfox, Catalyst, SUPER and so on. Is there ANY converter that is simple, allows you to take a .wmv from a digital copy and select a preset format to convert to work on a Moto Droid or a DROID X?call me simple or call me lazy but SUPER seems to be the best but it's like reading stereo instructions in chinese when youre from holland. :p
 
I use XVID4PSP version 5.0 r90

Best program I've found (and yes it is free) for doing x264 encoding.

Use the iPhone / iPod Touch profile but change the CRF from 21 to 20 and change the audio from 128kbps to 160kbps and play back quality is great and very smooth etc.

This is working on a Huawien Ascend M860 which isn't exactly very powerful.

I admit Handbrake is a good free one that can convert just about anything to MP4 and MKV. But just for MP4 and MKV and I think it's difficult to use. I'm using Enolsoft video converter right now. It's able to convert all videos between various formats easy to use. It can set up video/audio quality or other (resolution, bitrate, codec....) .Very becomes me.
 
Handbrake is not difficult to use at all. It can be used both by beginners and pros - this versatility with no cost is what makes it superior to any paid converters, including the Enolsoft video converter.

There are however other free converters that are also powerful in their own way. For example, I'll mention Xmedia Recode.

As you are new here, I will give you some advice. Please do a search. This has been answered MANY MANY times on here already. Look in the Droid X subforum, or here in the Media forum. I know I have personally answered this question dozens of times. And FYI, the steps are the same for ANY device. The only thing that's different is the resolution of your phone's screen.

Resolution - keep this max up to 800p, like 1280:800. You can also use 720p HD resolution, not a big difference.

For the rest you can use the settings I've put in Handbrake guide (link in my signature, see my first post in this topic).

There is more fine tuning available if you want, but these settings should be good enough for most users.
 
Still a newb but after trying many things, that Handbrake worked excellently. Using the Iphone/Ipod touch defaults and so far converted well.

For optimal quality, make sure the output video resolution is the same as your phone's screen resolution.

MoboPlayer is not a converter. It is a universal video player that is able to decode many video formats.
However, there are videos that are too complex to decode for MoboPlayer. In this case, a video converter is needed to make the video playable for the phone.
 
I like using Free Video to Android Converter by DVDVideosoft. The GUI is very easy to use, and provides a number of containers to choose from for many Android devices.
 
Handbrake is also the desired program of me to use, and I also have a pc desktop-based online video recorder wich has built-in video converter so that I can converter video from DVD or online websites to my android phone.
