Help Best visual voicemail app

Hey guys, just switched from sprint to vz and went from a Galaxy S2 to a Galaxy Nexus. My only gripe is the voicemail. The S2 had an app that told me who left a voicemail, the Gnex doesn't. I hate having to call my voicemail to see who left a message. I don't need to see the actual message, but I would like to see who left one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Try signing up for a Google Voice account. Not only does it do what you want, it will attempt to transcribe the message. You can also go into the app and listen to the voice mails from the people you want, you don't have to listen to them all.

That's EXACTLY what I want! Thanks

Google Voice. Been using it two years and it is awesome.

If it doesn't seem to be working, you're not doing something right. Stay with it.

Note: you're going to have to set up the account using a computer. There's a choice on one of the settings (after you've told it about your mobile phone) to "use this phone for voicemail." It gives you a big long number sequence to dial from the phone, something that codes everything to tell Verizon to release your voicemails to it.

Oh, and if it's still an option, go ahead and accept the Google Voice number it wants to give you. You may want to use if for something, such as free SMS, and there's linkage between being issued that number and using Google Voice for visual voicemail. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
