Handcent is running really slow and i would like to delete all my text. I use the delete all thread option but it takes forever and it only did one month of text.

whats the best option? is there a folder i can just delete?

Try home screen menu-> Settings-> Applications-> clear data for handcent, then your stock messaging app. (They may share storage space.)

You'll have to re-do your notification setups tho.

Here's what I would do:

Install SMS Backup & Restore from the market.
Make a backup of all SMS messages
Then wipe all SMS messages (which can also be done from the same app).

That way, you delete all your messages, but still have them in a file on your sd card just in case you'd ever like them back.

so i just spent an hour letting sms backup "delete messages" and after an hour all my text messages are still there!

How many messages do you have? I've heard it can take a long time, especially if you have a lot. Also, if your phone is rooted, and you have any kind of screen-off profiles to underclock, it's going to make operations like this take forever if the screen turns off in the middle. Also, by "all" do you actually mean every single one? Did it seriously delete nothing? There are other apps on the market designed to delete messages, but they generally all have the same disclaimer - it can take a while.

ya i have tons of text easily over 10k+ i want to delete them all so that my handcent will run faster again.

I used handcent delete all thread the other week and it took a while but it only deleted one month of text.

With that many texts it could take quite a while (hours?). Did it delete any at all (i.e. did it actually do anything)?

I did the clear all data and clear cache and it didnt delete any of mine. I then used sms back to delete my messages and it deleted everything thing except my mms messages.
