why dont you just call verizon and sign up for the tethering plan instead?
found one, now am able to tether.
which app did u end up using? i've tried barnacle - very low speeds, tried pdanet and its pretty unreliable with high latency and big lag spikes even just browsing internets, and wifi tether (a few diff versions) and i cant seem to get any to work reliably.

I got the SVTP wifi and USB tether app ($5 from Amazon), and it's worked pretty well.
Doesn't work on HTC thunderbolt
I am pretty sure the description of this app says it ONLY works with the Droid Charge. You should have some other options for the Thunderbolt but they may require root access.

yes, that's what it means. unsure if you need to be rooted for the SVTP app. it seems to only work on droid charge also.
still no word for a working app on a rooted non-droidcharge phone>?????

I'm not rooted and it worked for me earlier this month

I use SVTP also. As for Tbolt, you could check their forum for that. This only works for Charge as they plainly say. But-- I did read a review that it works for Pantech Outbreak.
