Better battery after cupcake, or not ????

Okay, overnight charge went to 100%, so I removed the battery (left it out for a minute) and then put it back, booted and started using the phone.

The battery went to 84% in less than 10 minutes. I put it on the charger, showered, etc. and it was up to 87%, no more. I power-cycled the phone (using the red hangup button) and when it came back up, the battery was at 100%.

Now what?

Oh, and being a klutz, when removing the battery cover, I got the USB cover caught on the back of the case and it broke off. Any suggestions? I called the local T-Mobile store, and they didn't think there was much I could do. T-Mobile can't fix that, they told me. What about HTC? What about an after-market replacement?

Thanks,

KLP

well, I saw the cover listed in a maintenece manual ... but Think you play hell trying to find where to order less that a pk of 500-1000 .. and tearing the phone apart to replace it isnt worth it.. I have two phones ... 1 with and 1 w/o the cover ... not a big issue ... it stays open most of the time anyway

Wow, you guys don't get much battery life...

I got my phone yesterday at ~10am. Its 25.5 hours later now, and I am on the original factory charge still. And I have 26 minutes of talk time, 40-50 texts and a bunch of playing around with it and there is still about 1/3 battery left. Not sure where to find the %.

My phone used to charge much faster and lasted longer. I did notice before cupcake update that the battery indicator would not change until the phone battery was at about 85%. Now it begins to change almost immediatly, so in that regard it may have a bit to do with perception. The charge time has definatly changed though. It used to take about a hour to get a full charge before and now it takes close to three.
Originaly I thought it might be the battery wearing out so I purchsed a new one, but I get the same result. I also have noticed the lower part of the phone, down by the send/end end on the back side, gets warmer then it did before. I'm guessng that this is the radio TX/RX. Maybe the update pushes more power to the radio to increase reception thus reducing the battery life.
I hope they get it worked out...
