Root Better get your upgrade now fellas.

I talked to a buddy who works for verizon last week and he told me the 28th was my last chance so I went online that day and weighed my options. For me its time to give samsung a go as I've had all the other major contenders. If you have verizon you really only have 3 options nexus, maxx, s3 and at this point even if you don't want an s3 if you use your upgrade and dont like it, just sell it. At this point though 2gb of ram is basically going to make this phone a flagship up until fall when the new iphone launches.

Keeping my unlimited is a must and anyone who believe verizon when they say upgrading will benefit you is crazy. The only way its useful is if your family hardly uses data and instead of paying 15/per line for 200mb you can spread out 2gb to the entire family for much less. In the long run this will become quite useful when 4g comes to more areas and you aren't eating up your data halfway into the month

Only thing that worries me about the S3 is Verizon's extended time with it. I'd be worried about our root options and bootloader status. Also American S3 is only Dual Core.

Since i can't push up my upgrade to preorder apparently I'm just gonna take the safe route and take the Nexus.

you can push your upgrade if you preorder, because you'll notice you actually change your contract the day you preorder. So the phone comes to your door and is ready for a lifetime of unlimited data

They wouldn't let me do that, Im just gonna keep that upgrade because maybe in the future they will have some amazing phone and better data plans that would make it worth losing Unlimited data.

family plans are the main beneficiary in these data share plans. A single guy like myself won't see any pros to this change. If you are looking for something good on VZW I would only say the fighter, as you can see how little verizon tried selling the galaxy nexus once they had the iphone...which was and still is a better phone

Picked up an Acer Iconia Tab A100 7 inch off Craigslist for $160 in mint condition... working well on my wifi tether.. ;)

Hopefully I can root this one, and maybe get Jellybean.. it sounds nice.. just a faster processor is all I see.. no memory slot though.. and a 1.2 mega pixel front cam.. this one is a 2.. its runnig ICS 4.03 now pretty nicely.. ;)

So far the field test it's working really nice... I'm gonna post over in that forum.. It fits in my gps dock in my car and work truck..its like a big Droid x!! A little shiny..but I'm gonna try a glare reducing screen saver..

I was told that the new plans include tethering. Pretty big data hog, but this is nice. I also heard from a verizon rep that if you get an SIII on preorder, you will no longer be grandfathered since the new plans went into effect on the 28th. So you loose either way. I have vzw.

And for an enterprising person with a little cash, I'd buy as many great smartphone deals as possible on ebay or craigs list. So many are going to get stuck now that the window is closed. Used smartphones should go up in value. Best choices are DX, DX2, Galaxy SII those are all great phones. I have the SGS3 preordered. Deliberately ordered the blue 32 Gig, so that hopefully it will be delayed long enough that if the RazrHD comes in I could trade it out. (if it comes within a month of me activating the S3) And if not, (and the reception proves to suck such as the Nexus did for me) I will list it and purchase the HD when it arrives. (on an auction site of course) The difference might be $100, but that may be the difference from VZ anyway.

I think I will just go for a 4GB shared pool. I won't tether much anyhow. All carriers are going this way...including sprint... just a matter of time.

Considering I have used WiFi the majority of the time I have owned my device, I can say that with the new plan I am actually going to SAVE around $30 a month. That is worth it to me, within a year it will pay for my upgrade (when I get one...)

Not to mention the fact that you have to buy all new phones at retail price or ebay from herein. I would rather bite the "data cap" bullet which I doubt I will hit versus paying $500+ for a new device granted it would be unlocked if I got it on ebay or where ever.

*I am not a fan of this "data cap movement" in the mobile industry, but it unfortunately was inevitable I suppose. I seriously considered moving to Sprint as it is the only option left, BUT if they cut their plan, I would have to wait it out until the end of my contract then go back to VZW or ATT. A major influence my decision not to go with them was because tey have a reputation (at least in my area) of having awful coverage, poor customer support and dropped calls galore.
