My GF recorded a band the other night (IP4) and it came out beautiful....mine was an overdriven mess...got a new phone today...same deal....

Anybody have any luck recording in a live situation?

The iphone 4 camera is actually ahead of the curve for most phone cameras. It also has a new BSI technology (backside illumination) which boosts the amount of light getting into the sensors, great for lowlight situations. Prime example would be a live band indoors, at night.

I don't have a ton of use with my captivates camera honestly, but I have noticed the lower the light, the more pixelated the image can be. I haven't really even touched the video portion of it yet, but I'm sure its about the same. You might want to try playing with the options. You can get to them by going into the camera app, and on the left hit the arrow and it will slide out and present you with a menu. Theres a few things in the settings, and if you hit the SCN button, there are some presets for different scenarios, like night shots. Unfortunately, the movie portion doesn't have these options, but you can still tweak exposure and stuff.

Thats all I know about it. It always seems like theres never enough light in the situations I want to use my cameras.
