BEWARE: Google Music stops working after 10 ROM changes

had no interest in this but thought id have a look. I assumed it was just for buying music but seems you can upload upto 20,000 of your own tracks and listen on any device now. Interesting.

Now just need to look into it not being available in the uk yet

I use Subsonic for streaming music from my computer and it works beautifully, and with none of the various restrictions Google Music imposes. A once off payment of $10 is well worth it for the server imo - check it out.

According to a recent Engaget article;

We've determined through our own experimentation that Google has temporarily suspended the de-authorization limit of four devices, and while it's difficult to know how long this reprieve will last, we're hopeful that it'll remain in effect until Google implements this new system to recognize duplicate authorizations.

As a Google Music user, I'm glad to hear that Google is looking at ways to implement a system that accounts for numerous ROM changes.

It would appear that Google have had a re-think on the subject. As reported on androidcentral, here:-

http://www.androidcentral.com/google-addressing-music-device-de-authorization-issues-back-normal-now

"Yesterday we made a change to our device policy for music on Google Play. Any user can associate up to 10 devices to his or her account. Once you have connected 10 devices, you may add a new device only by deauthorizing an existing one from your account, and you may do this up to four times per year.

We limit the number of times you can swap out new devices at the request of some of our music partners in an effort to limit abuse. We understand this has caused some issues for users who often deauthorize and reauthorize the same device, and we are currently re-implementing the solution in a way that works for our users and music partners.

We apologize for any inconvenience and will update this page as new changes are made.
