Beware of Progressive insurance

I know this has nothing to do with phones but Im so :mad: right now Im just posting this for everyone on all the forums I go to.

I have 3 cars covered with full coverage insurance through progressive.

Last year I moved from North Dakota to FL and on the way my 3 car's windshields got rock chips.
I filed a claim for that and got my windshields replaced Now time to renew my insurance I get a letter stating I can not renew with progressive,

The reason listed 3 claims in 36 months.
Seems they dont want to pay out but they sure dont mind taking my money.:mad:
 
florida law says windshields get full coverage and fully paid in insurance, i would check more into those laws to see if you cant tell progressive to stfu

oh they paid the claim just fine, but they have a policy, which they never told me about before that says 3 claims in 36 months and your out.

which is stupid as hell on a multicar account, 3 cars 3 windows.:(
 
Don't ya just love FL and the crap insurance companies get away with here!?

If it makes you feel any better, my insurance company wants to stop writing auto policies in Florida so they jacked my premium at renewal $347 for a total of $852. 37 every 6 months on my daily driver. That's with a clean record, damn near perfect credit and a multi vehicle/home discount.

What I find completely idiotic is the law says you have to have insurance yet they can use that to screw you over, and as you say they decide to leave so your screwed again.:(:confused:

I would've replaced them out of pocket. Windshields aren't that expensive. I've been with Progressive for 7-8 years now and have been nothing but happy with them.

Glass alone is $1048


also they did not tell me that they would not renew if I made any claims.:mad:

I am looking at Progressive for some bike insurance and from what I have read, Progressive is as good as the next insurance company.

I have always told people to read the boilerplate and see what dangers lurk within. Sometimes, what is considered unfair after the fact is discussed in the fine print.

That is what I was wondering, strange thing is my first post was moved, I didnt even know where the hell it was then got a reply notification and found it in the lounge?

I've got a $1000 deductible so filing a claim in that case still wouldn't make much sense in my situation.

It's kind of a given that if you file too many claims your company will drop you. What defines too many depends on the company.
 
I might also point out if you have a problem with your insurance company and you think you are being screwed, your local insurance regulators MIGHT be able to help you. Might, not will.

Be a dog and try this (with no guarantees it will make any difference) see if Progressive Insurance is on Facebook and ask a few questions. My experience with FB and any company is they are often quick to resolve issues because they only want good things mentioned on FB. You MIGHT get some results.

Again, read your documents. PI might tell you there is a limit on the number of claims one can make.

that means they will not renew anyone's policy if you had 1 claim for 1 car. they only cover those that dont drive in the real world. just take money in... 1 claim and your are out!

That's three claims in a three year period. It has nothing to do with the number of cars. I have made claims with Progressive and have not been dropped so saying you can't make a claim or you'll get dropped is not accurate. If you had made three claims for the exact same car in the 36 month period they probably would've dropped you too.

Sorry but its not their fault in not telling you. Its your fault for not reading the policy. How bad was the chips? Next time dont be lazy read the policys of the company and if you dont want to read then well its on you.

I have to be completely honest here and say that I have been burned more than once by policies that I did not bother to read.

Boy, the stories I could tell.

I remember when it was all the rage to bury a line like, "This is a Work For Hire Agreement. . . ." It means everything you produce for the publisher is owned by the publisher. Or company, or whoever. Now days, if it is a WFH contract, it must be stated quite prominently on the first page of the contract.

I recall a writer that signed a contract for two books; the final sale of the second book was dependent upon the acceptance of the first. At the time, this writer was stuck and unable to sell any other book to any other publisher because the house he signed with owned his first as well as the next. Again, the courts made it go away.

Especially when it concerns insurance. Always read those documents you sign; you never know what BS hides in among the details.

I have full coverage for a BMW with a 1200cc engine, and with 300k limits on the policy and it cost me 300$ for a year.

I think that is as good as it gets.

I have never had three claims in a year, so I can't speak to that, but they have always been fair in the past with my claims (windshield or otherwise...)

according to the OP's story..

only 3 total claims on his policy.. which has 3 cars...

that is 1 claim per car.. in 36 months..

and that was the reason P gave the OP that they will not renew...

so... that sucks!

But it's three claims all at once which is the kicker and it's also three claims in a 36 month period. It doesn't matter how many cars are on the policy. That's not relevant at all.

Seriously a multi car policy and they dont account for multi cars.
