Beware to those buying sd cards on ebay**!

I recently purchased a 32 gig class 6 card. Said used...guy had good feedback...turns out card is a fake. They basically modify the cluster file to appear as 32 gigs yet its only a 2 gig card. I have proven it via a program called
H2testw I have uploaded it to my dropbox for anyone to test their sd card's if they'd like. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/65761686/h2testw.exe

Here is its log report after testing the 32 gig card.:
The media is likely to be defective.
1.8 GByte OK (3975825 sectors)
29.3 GByte DATA LOST (61519215 sectors)
Details:0 KByte overwritten (0 sectors)
0 KByte slightly changed (< 8 bit/sector, 0 sectors)
29.3 GByte corrupted (61519215 sectors)
0 KByte aliased memory (0 sectors)
First error at offset: 0x0000000001e52200
Expected: 0x0000000001e52200
Found: 0xffffffffffffffff
H2testw version 1.3
Writing speed: 3.77 MByte/s
Reading speed: 8.48 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

All buyers beware.

It kept giving me errors when trying to transfer files. I ran a test on it, test showed 1.8 gigs writable, 30 gigs unwritable, defective, they modified the cluster size...and i paid 16.99 w/ shipping.

Ebay can be sketchy...I bought my recent prevail from there and it had a clean ESN so I was able to use it temporarily now I have it as a backup...but while waiting on my warp I bought a class 10 16gb cd from Amazon for $15.00 and it works great

I can not believe that. How is it that someone else hasn't reported them and why hasn't ebay shut them down?!

Were they from another country or USA? Any hints to the sellers name or can you not disclose that. I buy on ebay all of the time and don't want to buy them.

OP what does the card state on the outside size wise?

A lot of them come from or claim to come from China.

It also might not be the sellers fault. If they only have good feedback, it may have been that the seller was also ripped off and bought a batch of fakes not realising it. It's hard to tell who's a scammer and who isn't unfortunately.

My advice would just be not to use eBay for SD Cards/flash memory of any sort.
