Bezel

Maybe the folks reviewing this thing have small hands? When handling this thing yesterday, it felt awesome in the hand - the bezel didn't feel too wide at all.

Then again, I'm 6'3" with massive hands, so maybe I'm in the minority. In fact, I had no issues using it with one hand that some reviews had pointed out.

You have to remember that it's all subjective (I'm sure you do), it all depends on the eye of the beholder. Personally I don't like the look of the Razr either, but that's just my opinion.

Yes of course...what I like, and the next person likes may be totally different.

I think its a pretty cool, modern looking phone...

I also happen to like the look of the GNex.

I can't wait to have a cage fight between the two...hehehe

Same here...didn't feel wide at all! Same as my Bionic to me. Then again I have pretty BIG paws...lol

I don't think the width if the phone will be too much if an issue.

I have a case on my X, and with the case it's about the same width as the Razr......I have no issues holding the X due to it's width, but I also have big hands

I'd be more concerned with the display and the camera, and of course battery life

A bit of bezel may or may not be sexy to you. But what it comes down to is function and fit. Instead of judging it by mere appearence of the bezel, I think you may want to shift your focus to - how does it feel in your hand. Because your going to be looking at the content and holding it more then you will be admiring the bezel.

Well, I wouldn't call it a "flaw" - Doing so implies a rational (not emotional) reason to avoid it...Like citing the Bionic's headphone whine, or my OG Droid's royal-piece-of-garbage-headphone-jack. Those are true design flaws. A lot of us aren't caught up in the marketing hype either - Personally, I'm caught up in the excitement of finally getting a new phone to replace my OG Droid. It's exciting to get a new phone. And I like the RAZR the best out of my other VZW options: the GN or the Rezound. I'm not gonna sit here and preach about why I chose the RAZR, nor am I gonna bash those other two phones - I've considered both of them. Just keep in mind that it's all relative. Maybe the RAZR loses the bezel battle against another phone...But it also beats other phones in other categories.

I understand that we all have different priorities and there is a lot of personal choice that goes into the decisions we make regarding our devices, but your argument is akin to getting Megan Fox to come back to your place for some wine by candlelight and then promptly discarding her because you noticed she has that weird thumb.

Actually, that thick bezel was the first thing I noticed when I first saw the Razr. Not saying that is a deal breaker, but it is a bit annoying especially when you are used to a device like GS2.

And how does that make the phone less of a performer? Does it slow it down? Does it make the screen resolution not high enough?

The phone was designed the way it was for a reason - putting all the guts in the very thin body. If you are a designer and know how to put all the insides of a smartphone like that into a case as thin as that with a 4.3" screen and much narrower, please let Motorola know, maybe they will hire you.

You know, you could be a little nicer, especially as a guide to a new member. Just a suggestion. Besides, I don't think the poster ever said that the big bezel made the phone less of a performer. If he did, I must have missed it. He even said he liked just about everything else about the phone. It's pretty clear you don't have a problem with the bezel size, but he does and frankly, so do I. I went to a Verizon store today to check it out and even though it has the exact same sized screen as the Bionic, it was noticeably wider because of the larger bezel. Yeah, I know the Bionic is a thicker phone but some of us would have been okay with that trade off.

After playing with the device for a good ten minutes, of the three new Verizon phone that are within reach (Razr, GNex and Rezound), I have now placed the Razr a distant third. The bezel is one of the reasons why. The other is the screen. Call me unimpressed. I have a D3 and even though it's not Super Amoled, I actually like it more because of the higher pixel density and better brightness.

Obviously my opinion may change after I checkout the other two phones. I might find the Rezound too thick or find the GNex too big overall. But after handling the Razr, I KNOW what I saw. And what I saw was a big bezel that bothered me. But like another poster said, all phones have issues that will bother you. So it's a matter of finding one that has the type of issues you can live with, especially if you plan on shelling out full retail like I do. I'm just glad we have three great phones to choose from. Different strokes for different folks. It's a motto Apple could take a cue from.
