Keisha: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: I have the galexy s11 skyrocket and it has a bicycle ring chime that goes off 10 or 12 times a day. What does it mean?
Keisha: I understand that you are getting a bicycle ring chime on the phone that goes off 10 or 12 times a day, is that correct?
Visitor: ehhh yeah
Keisha: Thank you.
Keisha: I am sorry to hear that.
Keisha: I will be more than happy to provide you that information.
Keisha: How long have you been experiencing this issue?
Visitor: always. It signals something
Keisha: Okay. Did you change any settings on the phone?
Visitor: no
Keisha: Okay. Let us perform few troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.
Keisha: Let us perform the Soft Reset on the phone. Performing the Soft Reset will clear the internal circuit on the phone.
Keisha: Please follow the steps mentioned below to perform a soft reset on your Phone.

1. Turn off the handset.
2. Remove the battery and wait for 30 seconds.
3. Reinsert the battery and turn ON the device.

Keisha: Please perform and let me know the status.
Visitor: The phone is not broken. There is a chime that makes a sound when something happens. What does the sound mean?
Keisha: I will provide you with the information.
Keisha: Are you getting the a chime on the phone home screen or is it appearing as a icon on the notification bar?
Visitor: Its a sound. A Ring. Nothing else. I have a sound that signals email messages. I have a sound that signals voice mail. I have a sound that signals text messages. I know what those are. Then there is this bicycle chime. I do not know what that is.
Keisha: Thank you for the information.
Keisha: It seems to be a notification related related to text message or emails.
Keisha: When you get any text or email notification, you will get the notification alert.
Keisha: But you are getting different sound.
Visitor: Yes but those make different sounds. I know what those are. Never mind
Keisha: You set different sound for your text , email, voicemail
Keisha: There might be a malfunction on the phone.

I wouldn't say that it stumped support. I don't think you went through enough for them to troubleshoot the device. Is it the sound when the battery is fully charged?

It has to be either a program causing the ring or the phone is malfunctioning, try setting the phone on silent and see if anything happens, if no chiming occurs, it is safe to say it is probably a program.

I know for my main email it doesn't make a sound, but for my gmail it does.

I too, have begun getting these chimes. I write this on 2012.07.31. Got my Samsung Galaxy Sii in March or April. I believe these chimes just started within the past week or so.

I can't figure out what they are or what they are for. Am wondering if I've been "hacked" or something? Or if the chime is just a random chime!?!

This annoying bicycle bell sound is called Postman and the default email notification - suddenly got this randomly when I turned on automatic synchronisation...

Go into my email where all the inboxes are (I am with 2 different email providers), open one of the emails, then select the menu key, then the More button, then Account Settings to get the Select Ringtone!

Please note that each email provider can be assigned it
