Bigger than the X?

I guess you wouldn't mind going back to a 13 inch CRT TV or a Green/Black monitor then would you? I mean, I don't see how you survived a few years ago...

So here's your updated phrase:

"Not buying a TV because a screen is smaller than 13" just sounds silly."

You FAIL at logic..... just saying. :)

I can't see going any bigger, personally. I don't like belt clips so my phone must be pocketable, and the Droid X is right at the upper limit of pocketability for me. I like the big screen but it's really pushing it. I think 4" might be the sweet spot, but the problems with the Samsung Galaxy S series kept me out of that screen size.

This is exactly how I feel about it.

This is the perfect size for me. :p

YEs but we are not carrying around TV's in our pockets...or atleast most of us :D

It's an analogy for technological advancement. Because we used to use a lesser product doesn't mean we are spoiled now by wanting the current products and technology.

Nope not really. Technology advances. Some of us prefer to have a bigger screen as that is what we are accustomed to now and prefer now. Not all of us like to go backwards.

Just because screens used to be a certain size doesn't mean that we should be using them now.

"I don't see how you kids survived just a few years ago then"

So actually, no, your logic fails with this point.

i wouldnt be suprised if they start coming out with cordless handsets for our monster sized "cell phones"

ummm....blue tooth headsets?

You FAIL at logic..... just saying. :)

Agreed

No, your logic fails by using TV as an example. TV's were never created to be portable technology. Try again. :)

Agreed once more.

TV's aren't meant to be portable (they tried that and it didn't work out too well). Now they're pushing for TV via mobile devices. So in that sense yes a "TV" could be portable, so having something that is a bit larger than 3.5" would be more desirable, but not something that is 5" for a phone. Phones are meant to be kept in your pocked or belt clip, so a bigger phone wouldn't really work too well. Unless you carry a purse or satchel maybe you could find better use for a 5 inch + phone.

Regardless of how we should or SHOULDN'T use things, in the end we dont NEED any of these things. Thats exactly what they are. They are THINGS. Things rarely bring happiness or for that matter a necessity. Yes things such as cars, TV's and Phones are all REALLY nice things to have and make life FAR easier, but in they are mere things that will eventually go away and have little impact on our lives in the future(Personally, not really society on a whole). So lets all be happy with what we have now, even having things like clothes are a blessing to most.

I don't think cellphones will go beyond 5" unless humans grow longer thumbs.

I think what's gonna happen is that we'll lose screen bezel so we can have a bigger screen.

I'm referring to technological advancement. Not a specific case of Cell phone advancement. But if you're so stuck up on that, might as well go back to using a beeper, you know, since that's what we used before Cell phones and all.

Just because I had a Nokia brick or a Startac at some point doesn't change the fact that screens now are getting bigger, and some users prefer the device with the bigger screen regardless of their cell phone history.

But keep ignoring that and just mention that a TV isn't portable.

TVs and cellphones are two different devices. Both will have technological advancements but not in the same way because a TV is stationary. There is a limit on cellphone screen size simply because human hands are only so big. Unless the cellphone had a screen that folded somehow a cellphone can only be so big.
