bionic extended battery??

heyy guys do you think there will be extended batteries for sale once the phone is released, i know the inductive battery charger was listed as one of the accessories but i don't feel like purchasing the charging pad and was just interested in an extended battery??

with all the hype behind this device i would more than certainly guarantee that this device will get an extended battery only if it comes out with major battery issues. There is no market for extended batteries for a device with an outstanding battery. Just my guess.

Not sure if your gonna want an extended battery though have you seen the new pics posted today? This phone is huge already can't imagine the size w/ the extended battery???? Zac Morris just called & he wants his phone back :p

We do have Yoda and perhaps others claiming great battery life for this phone, but IMO that doesn't affect whether an extended battery will be available.

My guess is any high volume phone will have an extended battery (perhaps not immediately at launch) for heavy-duty or mission-critical uses or for traveling where a charger might not be available. Of course, it'll always be cheaper just to bring along a spare battery bought off eBay (if you don't mind powering off to swap them).

Even though Yoda now has immense credibility, I still think that it's all going to be subjective. I use my phone for reading e-books quite a bit. Recently, on the X2 I tried out, I read an e-book from about 8am to noonish and was absolutely shocked when the battery read 20% remaining. I wasn't looking at the net, I didn't have any widgets running, I didn't make any phone calls. Yes, the screen was at full brightness (I was outside), but that should NOT make the phone run almost down to zero in only 4 hours. I was appalled, and that was one reason I took it back.

I'm really nervous about the Bionic's battery life. It has the same bright, big screen as the DX2 and is running a dual core like the DX2. And on top of that, it will have 4G LTE, which I doubt is going to be an energy sipper.

I just hope that Yoda is right about the new ingredients in Gingerbread helping out battery life. Because I don't think the battery will be a monster. And I'm for sure not going to get an extended battery. The thing already looks like a freaking camel. I'm not going to add more straw to its back.

Maybe this new LTE chip that Motorola came out with will fix that LTE drain...

They had to have made it for some reason, they wouldn't have bothered if the chip didn't have an advantage over Qualcomm because then they couldn't lease it to the other manufacturers, not to mention the wasted R&D.

ROTFLMFAO - thanks, dude! That just made my day! I even thanked you for making me spew iced tea all over the place....

Agreed with the boldfaced part. Different people have different uses for their phones, and with mine, my DROID quickly became my endall beall for everything, from email, to Nav, to music, to my Kindle, and beyond. I also am rooted and have OCd my device, and I'll probably at the very least see if I can break 1.6 GHz on the phone I get as soon as I can - just to have fun. With that, not to mention the numerous apps I have that run services in the background, I will definitely want either a) multiple batteries, or b) extended battery(ies).

The market will be there - and I predict that that market will be filled. If no one else, Seidio will do it.

Wait, what? Yoda got cred? Last I heard half of the posters in this thread were calling for him to put up or shut up in other threads lol....I must have missed a few days of posts there, huh?

As for GB, yeah, it's highly aggressive with memory management - ask anyone running a CM nightly on older phones, particularly phones that cannot run a vanilla GB on them (like my DROID). Whether it helps on more powerful phones or not I cannot say - yet.

As for big, hell, I think a big(ger) device will be kewl, but only to a point - I don't want a friggin 7" tablet strapped to my belt, yanno?

That is what I am hoping for - but I'm worried, too - aren't the Bionic early adopters basically glorified guinea pigs? :p

Man where have you been? Yoda posted a pic of the Bionic with a piece of paper next to it spelling out "Yoda". It's all over the net, along with his claims of 15+ hours of battery life, which I still find a little dubious maybe, but I think the pic makes him deserving of the benefit of the doubt.

For now, anyway.

He made the naysayers eat crow, huh?

Maybe some folks will *listen* to guides and mods when we say "These people really are here and they really do exist" :p

And as for 15+ hours of battery life, I promise I can make it evaporate much much sooner :p

Eh, straw man argument. Nobody is doubting there are corporate participants in these forums. But after previously giving some wrong info (and some light trolling), we're not gonna take anything as gospel.

C'mon, let's be honest -- nobody here buys the 15hrs claim.

In most other phones (including the DROID) I'd doubt it -= but no one has yet to really say one way or another how Moto went about making their own LTE chip. And if they did it right, they might already have battery usage issues nipped in the bud.

I'll take it seriously - b/c when they really want to, Moto will get SH*T done and quick like. They simply will not play - again, though, when they want to.

I just happen to know my own perverse nature and that I'll ahve half of the market installed on my phone in less than a week. :p

I agree with John.

In the end Motorola gets their shit done and makes it good.

Look at the OG Droid? Arguably the most versatile and powerful Droid to be released since it is still running strong after 2 years of ownership.

I do NOT trust HTC to come out with anything with a semi good battery and I am looking forward to seeing how Moto's LTE chip stacks up.

Do we even know what size the battery on this is going to be? I don't know why Yoda or anyone else with blurry pics of this thing couldn't post a picture of the label.

I have to admit that I'm a little worried about it. On the X2 I got like 6 hours tops, and that was just reading an e-book and making like 3 calls. (that was on a 1540mAh battery.)

Does anyone have any info on the battery size for the Bionic?

The Bionic already has a bigger than usual battery (about 1830ma based on pics) and a big bezel. Seems adding more size gets near mini tablet level ;)

Sans the extended battery, the Bionic is about as thick as the D3 with its own extended battery, but it has a keyboard.
