Help Bionic Hotspot Problems

I got the Bionic on launch day and have had problems with the Hotspot from day 1. It would connect to my laptop with internet access for a few minutes (or not at all) and then it would kick me off. When I put the cursor over the network icon it will say connected but it also says

A few things come to mind.

Are you using a network name (SSID) that you've used before? That could potentially confuse things. If a computer is connecting to a wireless network with the same name as one it has connected to before, it will try to use the configurations for the previous network.

Have you tried setting up the Bionic's Hotspot as unsecured/open? If your computer's wireless adapter is on the older side, it might not be able to connect to a WPA2 (AES encrypted) network (I think that's the default for the Bionic).

Have you looked into updating your wireless driver on your computer? An old driver, especially if you're on XP, can prevent you from connecting to WPA encrypted networks. Also, if you're on XP, you'll need Service Pack 3 to use WPA.

This is going to be either a Vista or a Windows 7 computer since both IPv4 and IPv6 connections are listed... XP doesn't have those, it simply lists TCP/IP.

Go into your wireless network adapter settings and on the IPv4 properties, check that it doesn't list 0.0.0.0 as the default gateway... if it does, remove that GW setting.

If that doesn't do it...

Reset the TCP/IP stack... see How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

If that doesn't do it... Try the Windows Network Troubleshooter...

And if still no luck... update the drivers for the wireless network adapter
