Bionic owners...

I was wondering when someone would point this out - it's be design on the lockscreen. That's why where the little 'thumb spot' is to drag to unlock it's not there.

The made it a real screen.

See the screen shot - look around the unlocked icon:

As for the battery, well, I never hold my phone 1 inch from my face, so.....it's not noticeable.

Because it's a phone. I'm not looking for HD from a phone. I want to check my email, facebook, and text. Maybe do some browsing. It's not like I'm trying to watch a movie with surround sound or something. I'll take a lower end screen for a better battery any day of the week.

@WiseGuyDesignz - On the flip side, how do you deal with your charge's screen? When I was on the fence between my TB or the charge, once I saw the screens in comparison it was a no-brainer for me. All it took was the rep showing me 5 seconds of Transformers that I noticed the screen is too small for such an "HD" look. Everything was sharper than my ginsu knife! Zero softness to the picture, which I personally could not handle.

But back to your Q: I don't think the Bionic screen is that bad and like you said earlier, to each his/her own :) You like the charge, I do not ;)

Let me ask how are you able to deal with the Droid Charge's screen? Do you just live with the fact that it can't be used outdoors unless it's night? How do you do it? I couldn't imagine using my phone only inside and just accepting the fact that I may as well not have a phone at all when I'm outdoors.

Doesnt bother me at all. Coming from the HTC Imagio, this screen is awesome. Out of curiosity, what makes you think you'll find that "perfect" screen anyway? Every phone is going to have some flaw that people try to capitalize on... In my opinion, this phone is amazing at everything it does.

Are you joking? The Charge performs well in sunlight. I have had phones that you could not see at all outside and the Charge is not one of them.

That's interesting. You must have a special Charge that no one else has. Care to take a video?

 I can use my Charge just fine in sunlight. Have you actually tried a Charge outdoors? If you have and you couldn't see the screen, then maybe it's a vision issue because I can see it just fine.

I don't have anything to take a video with or I would. I use auto brightness and when I go outside it takes 2-3 second for it to adjust and after that the screen is 100% visible.

I am not here to talk badly about the Bionic because I did buy one and I liked it but I feel that it could have been a lot better. The screen looked good a lot of the time but there are some colors that the phone just can't produce like the neon theme in swiftkey x that I use. It looked so pixelated and bad that I could not use it. If the screen can't display that properly then there are going to be other things its going to struggle with as well.

Between screen problems, quiet call volume, camera problems, and the locked bootloader I decided it would be better to wait for something else. The phone is fast and for the first time Moto really did well with the skin. The new blur runs faster then anything I have used on Android. I really wanted to like the phone and did look past the screen problems for the most part but with better phones like the Vigor and the Prime right around the corner I had to return it and wait.

Charge owners will always talk about the screen. My mother in law has the Charge, nice looking phone. Charge owners, how do you deal with not having the latest updates when they come out??

There have been roms with Gingerbread for a while now already. Even without rooting I heard Gingerbread is just around the corner. Are you sure you aren't just basing this on past history and not looking at what's going on now?

Its not like the Charge is the only lte phone on Verizon without 2.3. Samsung has supported the Charge pretty well so far and Gingerbread should be out very soon.

Having a phone with a nice screen and OFFICIAL updates on time>>>>>Phone with excellent screen but have to root for updates

Every person will have a complaint about any phone that comes out. Just depends on the person.

Which updates is the Charge behind on?

Probably the fact that it's on 2.2.

To my knowledge, the ThunderBolt and the Revolution also aren't on Gingerbread yet. It's already been confirmed that Gingerbread will be coming to the Charge. What is the Charge missing?

Those are the first 3 LTE phones that came out, and they are all in the same boat. We obviously can't compare it to the Bionic having Gingerbread because the phone was just released with it.

So I'm still confused as to how the Charge is behind.

I had the Charge, wasnt too bad in Sunlight! Granted, the Bionic is the best phone I've ever used outdoors, but the Charge is very usable outdoors as well...

What was the screen the OG Droid used? That had a nice balance of colors. It's biggest problem was direct sunlight,IMO anyway. Why didn't they use maybe a 'advanced' version of that??? The Charges screen is pretty vivid and saturated but the Bionics was very washed out and pixelated. Isn't there a happy medium here somewhere? They need to put more screen adjustments on these phones to increase/decrease saturation, sharpness, color tone, etc. Can this be done via software, anyone know????

I believe a reg LCD screen is what was on the OG DROID...however it was terrible like u said outside...and battery life was pretty sub par.

As far as screens go, we are pretty close to getting HD screens in our hands. However Samsung holds the cards with Super Amoled screens, which is the reason you'll only catch them on Samsung phones now. I believe the last non Samsung phone to have an Amoled screen was either the Incredible 1 or the Nexus 1..which ended up being chaos because the Incredible ended up on massive back order because of screen shortages, and HTC went to super LCD, which wasn't to impressive IMO.

Honestly , the pentile screen on the Bionic is not bad at all. Once you use it for a day, all negativity goes out the window.

Because an update from 2.2 is still pending. Other phones also being on 2.2 doesn't change the fact that they aren't running the most current version of the OS for phones, either, hence them being behind.

I, personally, wouldn't split hairs over it, but you asked which update the Charge is behind on. In all honesty, it's android's achilles heel (not so much the Charge), and most of us will be in that boat once ICS releases. We android fans all "lose" in that respect, so it's nothing to gloat about.

...how in the world do you deal with the screen on this phone? Let me first start off by saying that I do not own the Bionic. I'm a happy owner of a rooted Charge. And let me also say that I'm really not trying to start a war. If you like your Bionic, then that's all that matters. :D

When I went into one of my local Verizon stores to check this phone out, I was in awe at how bad the screen was. I always knew Pentile sucked, but wow. Maybe my eyes were spoiled with my Charge screen, but it looked downright awful.

I did bring it over by the window and I will admit that it performs very well in daylight. But that pro wouldn't even be close to outweighing the cons.

In all seriousness, what is your reason for dealing with this screen? Is it just because it's the newest phone on Verizon and you have to have it? Or because it has better specs than the other 4g phones?

I for one would not be able to accept this phone with this screen. It would drive me nuts. I know I would get used to it, but not enough to warrant the purchase.

Because Samsung devices are terrible.
