Bionic Reference - Terms - Links

Before it gets too long, I suggest that you look at Tecumseh's ATR FAQ . GUIDE and see if it can be made a lot shorter by hiding the actual content using a hide tag. Also, for ease of navigation, perhaps an initial ToC with jumpto links....

Thank you for the suggestion.

I don't know what "Tecumseh's ATR FAQ . GUIDE " is.

I tried the structure you suggest a few months ago and came to the conclusion that the document was not quite large enough to warrant it. If it grew much larger then it would defiantly be needed. If you access it with IE and print it it fits on four pages. It doesn't seem to have been growing.

The other observation is the audience. The visitors don't necessarily know what they are looking for and are "just looking around". Hiding the information under titles doesn't really meet their needs.

What is really needed is an easy external authoring tool that will maintain the information once and present it both ways. The visitor could then choose which way they wanted to see it and the needs of both types of visitor would be met.

And while you might think 4 pages is easy enough to view, users are not going to scroll through a 4 page document - they don't even scroll through a one page FAQ.

In that link, he has a ToC with built in links to sections of the main part of the document, and the main information itself is hidden behind hide tags, so that it remains very neat and organized and you can have several pages of information, just not all showing simultaneously, making it a lot cleaner, and more organized.

But, in the end, it's just a suggestion. :)
