Bizarre Headset Problem

So, I must be one in a million that do not like the huawei headset headphones that come with the device. I found a nice pair of Plantronics Stereo Mobile Headsets with Mic called the MX203S, but they only appear to play out of the right headset whilst the mic does not seem to work at all. My only theory is that the Huawei Ascend uses a non-standard configuration for their headset jack. Anyone confirm/deny this? Or is this just my phone?
 
Does anyone know where to find a wiring spec for the huawei ascend? I'm willing to break out my soldering gun and rewire these plantronics to work in my Ascend.
 
Your best bet would be to buy bluetooth stereo headphones. You get more volume out of them. The stock earbuds are terrible!!!!! Plus any wired headset would still suck because the volume is limited.
 
you can buy an adapter, and use standard head phones. I ordered 2 adapters from ebay, one worked perfectly, and the other worked only in one ear.
