Help Black screen all the time?

Ok so got my note about 3 days ago and ran the update for ICS. I'v downloaded a few apps, mainly the usual ones that seem reliable but I keep getting a black screen randomly. The phone can be working fine and then I go to exit an app for example and it black screens for between 10seconds to 1 minute and it happens quite often. Is this a problem with ICS or maybe an app I'v downloaded?

What's the main differences between ICS and the GB versions? Can you downgrade if it's an ICS problem? Has anybody had the same problem but fixed it?

Cheers

I have a similar issue on my new note, which I've also just upgraded to ICS. With me, the phone shuts down completely and often refuses to turn back on. Is it the same with you, or does the screen just go black but with the phone still working behind it?

the phone is still working it just black screens. It comes up with not responding and then I had to force close it. Happens with many apps, quite annoying!!

Not sure what to say then, since mine was shutting itself down completely each time I guess we had different issues. I took it into the dealership where I got it today, and they said they'd swap it for me if I take it in with its box and accessories, which I'll do tomorrow. Might be worth you getting them to take a look at yours, or calling up tech support if you ordered it online. Best of luck to you!

I have both of these 2 problems on my note. They only way I can turn mine back on is if I take the battery out and then turn it back on.

I'm going to see my Tech support next weekend but it would be nice if someone had an answer before then.

I've had many similar problems; people say itś best once received the upgrade to ICS, to reset it to factory defaults. I've not done so but started uninstalling all apps I don't need; uninstalled Go Launcher as well and now my phone is much more reliable...
Elsewhere on the forum you can read (also on the XDA forums) is advised NOT to reset to factory defaults because problems with the stock ROM (=operating system) exist, causing your device to brick...

The main thing it comes down to is apps that worked ok formerly on the last version 2.3.6. don't work properly with ICS.

Therefore, try uninstalling apps you don't need really; get rid of extra launchers; use the TW (Touch Wiz) launcher and see how things go.....

Replacing your unit by the shop won't help really Iḿ afraid....
