Help Black Screen of Death

I unplugged my phone from the charger this morning and after a few minutes got the black screen of death. I tried holding power + volume to no avail. Every few minutes the phone makes the "Droid" startup sound, but no other activity (the LED doesn't even come on when I put it back in the charger).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Help!

Pull the battery out, put it back in, push power, enjoy.
