Help Black Screen

Several times lately when I am talking and the screen sleeps and goes black it won't come back on. I light press the power button, slap it, shake it and nothing! The only fix is to reboot it. It is very frustrating to press #2 or #3 for english when ya can't see the screen or to hang up!!

Any ideas?

Covered (scratched or dirty or covered) proximity sensor at the top off the screen so it "thinks" its in your pocket?

Maybe an app is doing it. If you are under Jelly Bean, try running in safe mode and see if it magically stops.

No it's not dirty or scratched and has a screen protector on it. When I use it, it's in my hand and in the light. It doesn't do it all the time but often.

There are constant warnings to not cover the sensor with a screen protector. That's why the Bionic screen protectors have those little chunks cut out of them.

No the sensor isn't covered, the screen protectors were made for the Bionic.

Is the screen dry when it happens ... maybe you perspire a lot?

You could check it with the free app from Play Store ... Proximity Sensor Finder ... to see if the sensor is operating correctly.

Thanks I cleaned it good and if it happens again I'll get the app.
