Black vs Brown battery cover. Difference?

Hi,
Orange are replacing my Desire, and I asked for a Black, but have just realised they told me to keep the BROWN battery cover.
Are they different or is it just the front? Will the Brown cover look stupid on a black?
It looks black-ish, maybe a tiny brown tinge.
Thanks a lot.
 
I've got the desire with the bronzed bezel, but my battery cover is black. I think ALL the battery covers are black with the exception of the silver special edition phone, aren't they?
 
They're probably sending you a Brown Desire. I know when I've asked for replacements they refuse to let you choose colour.
 
Oh, no that sounds rather positive, then. Usually when I ask they refuse outright. Mind you, do you have insurance? I never had insurance. If you do, that might be it. Or, you just got an awesome CSR.
 
The guy was very nice, and i do have insurance. but i have severe doubts that the phone will work. its my 3rd Desire, and if it doesnt i will be sending it back to change to a samsung galaxy S.
 
What exactly have been the problems with them?

Edit: Ah, I see from the other thread it's the orange software. I got my phone on Orange as a network, but bought it through mobiles.co.uk, so it's unbranded and unlocked. Might be worth investigating if you want to stay on orange but don't want the software?
 
I'm still on my first and it's working brilliantly!

EDIT:

Yeah, I paid for a sim unlock from Orange so I could debrand and update to the Official HTC Firmware. Orange are blaming the Desires but it's their ROM that's the problem.

I went into an Orange shop and checked the Black Desire. The battery covers ARE different. the Black is matt black and the brown is a sort of metallic blacky-brown :(
I'm expecting to change it for a Samsung Galaxy anyway. The screen is RIDICULOUS, it's amazing and the interface much smoother and slicker than the Desire.
Kind of hoping my third Desire is crap now!

Nope my brown desire definitely has a matt black cover. And incidentally the desire has the same resolution as the Galaxy, so despite the bigger screen you won't see anything more clearly.

Mine is a matte black.
 
Mines "brown". Its exactly the same colour as the "brown" bit at the bottom of the desire, surrounding the buttons.

I think you will find the galaxy has the superior super amoled screen though, end result its a clearer brighter display & its lighter on the battery.
 
I have had my desire since easter (unlocked/branded) and still cant work out what colour it is... damn my eyes!!
 
The covers off the brown Desire is definitely different to the full Black Desire released by Orange... I've had them side by side.... I wanted a new back for my black Desire to get rid of the Orange logo...
 
The Orange branded black back is definitely a different colour than the brown "black" one. Pic here (black on left):

Shame as I'd also like to get rid of the Orange logo on mine.

Lots of places seem to advertise the brown Desire as black but I think (in the UK anyway) Orange branded ones are the only real black ones.
 
Even after the pictures I think mine is the black one - I can't find a hint of brown in it anywhere, in any light. I even tried looking at it through a 20x magnifying lens, can't see any hint of colour. It's possible the black desire is a darker black, but I don't see any brown!
