Help Blacked Out Login

So Im having problems getting into my phone. Whenever I turn it on the Time/date bar on top is there, the bottom 'verizon wireless / make emergency call' is there but the mid part, that should be my face is just black, even when I have enough light.
The code screen never loads, it just switches the screen off. I wind up having to hit 'emergency call', back out of that (bottom homescreen button) and punch in my code. Every time.

Also I just did the 'make face unlock better' thing and added another picture; worked fine so the camera isnt broken or anything.

Anyone else have this? Ideas?

i don't use face unlock. You could try turning it off. I know that probably isn't what you want to hear. Personally i haven't used it. Imo it's a gimmick. If you lose your phone and someone recovers it, they can look the info up on the internet on how to just wipe the device to make it a sellable device. I guess it does protect your data to a degree but a few adb commands and i'm sure they can still get to it.

Thats not a bad suggestion, i had assumed the pin would be blacked out too but it is fine

Had the same problem this morning with the blacked out face unlock area.
Restarted the phone and all is well now.
I wonder what caused this.

Does your camera app work when you have this issue? That happened to me one using Face Unlock, seemed there was a problem with the camera. I think I heard something about bar code apps causing camera conflicts?
