Root Blank screen after installing CyanogenMod9. Droid 3.

LOOOeee

Lurker
I just installed CyanogenMod9 on my Droid 3, well almost.
So I go through the steps I found online here. How to Upgrade Motorola Droid 3 to Android 4.0 ICS Using CyanogenMod 9
And I get to the last step, reboot.
I reboot, I see the Motorola Dual Core splash screen, then the SafeStrap splash screen that tells me to wait 10 seconds/press menu for recovery/press search to continue. I

I had this same problem and couldn't find a solution. Turns out I was just installing the wrong thing because I wasn't paying close enough attention. When I was trying to install 4.0 I was actually installing the Google apps for it. Once I realized that I went and installed the actual operating system and it worked flawlessly. I can't post the link until after this post as it's my first one.

Thanks for that heads-up, though it's not much help to me now because I accidentally factory reset my phone, re-rooted, did the whole safestrap thing, but now I'm stuck in a bootloop.

Let's pick one thread and stick to that.

I'd suggest...

SBF'ing the phone to stock (since you've wiped data already)
Root
Install SafeStrap
Download CM9 and GApps and place both on the SD card
Open SafeStrap and install recovery
Reboot and enter SS
Switch to the safe system (DON'T LEAVE SS)
Select wipe data/cache and let it finish
Select install from SD
Select the CM9 .zip and let it go
Select the GApps .zip once CM9 finishes
Reboot and bypass SS

You should be up and running now. In the setup process, DO NOT allow data to be restored from your Google account.
