Root block firmware updates

Hey guys, so I'm pretty happy on firmware D, but the bloody phone keeps asking for an upgrade. How can I disable that? I;m fully rooted.

Nevermind, blonde moment.

I have researched and now I have figured out how to remove the ota update notification. you go to settings then apps then click on the tab all then look for Google services framework clear data and disable it. that will disable the ota update notification.

I don't think that will fully work... Try changing your build.prop from MS77010d to MS77010z, works here.

^^^^ Thats exactly what I did. Works like a charm. Not only saves RAM, but COMPLETELY keeps the phone from looking for or downloading/installing new updates. AFAIK doesnt cause any problems either

i used root app delete from the market to disable all the stuff i wanted but couldnt with the normal apk manager.

i disabled software update and haven't had any update notifications for months.

i also disabled every google thing that didnt break google play.

all the things you disable you can later re-enable with the recycler, just incase you fudgeup

i've road tested all the firmwares and I'm Using "C" on my
daily driver. With 474 gb left in internel mem after reboot and
the best battery of the bunch. You CAN just cancel the update
but it is going to remind you at a later time.

I froze software updates app and see it running anyway in the background,
but it does not ask me to update. weird.
if it ever updates from D to E I'll lose my root????

1. where do I find this file?
a. how do I do this?

Also someone suggested changing the .apk to .bak?
2. Does the app really run off the .apk?
3. If this works where in the LG motion do I find this file?

3. Is there an app for searching system files?

I froze mine
It stopped showing updates
But was still in running background apps
So i removed all permissions
I dont know if i even need it .i dont use it for now

Can you stop updates on an unrooted phone ?

If you can disable the WAP Service, then you can stop updates ;)

I figured this out when I noticed that Software Update requires permissions to Receive SMS and Receive WAP Messages. I can't think of any other reason to use WAP on this phone, and I'm not going to look through every app to see if they require WAP. So far, no troubles at all.

For root, I didn't even think about freezing the Software Update app. Thanks! That will save some ram and hopefully won't disable google services.

I am running ms77010d.
