Help Blockbuster App

miela

Lurker
Hi - I just bought a Thunderbolt and I'm trying to remove the blockbuster app and I can't figure out how. Could someone please advise.

Thank you.:)

I'm for certain the phone must be actually rooted and an app is not going to allow you to remove the blockbuster app. Phone must be rooted.

As stated, you can not remove it. But open it up and disable the updates in the apps settings. Do this for all of the apps that you can not remove and don't plan on using.

I swear i am still curious on y HTC or Verizon or whomever made the call to let BlockBuster be pre installed into the phone. If anything it should of either been hulu or netflix.

Smartphones today remind me of new Windows computers back in the day. A new PC would come with all kinds of junk installed. Most, if not all, was never needed. I have always formatted a new computer and installed Windows myself, with what I need. Smartphones should have the same ability. I understand that Verizon wants to make money by putting junk like Blockbuster on the phones, but the downside is that the extra software takes up space, uses processor and battery power. They should at least allow for the pre-installed software to be removed.

At least with computers you can uninstall the junk ;)

As long as the app makers pay carriers to stuff and lock down this junk on devices, it is what it is. What makes the TB seem worse is almost 1gb of bloatware AND the fact they disabled 4gb. Still no answer as to why, but level 2 tech confirmed 4gb is disabled.

The lamest thin about the bloatware is can you upgrades to the full version and then unintall, or are you then stuck with an even bigger version? Mega lame.

I wonder if there is a way to delete the file by connecting the phone to a computer then bringing up the Blockbuster file on the Comp, then simply deleting it. It works with mp3 players for deleting music files. Just a shot in the dark.

In short, no because the blockbuster app is in the system and not on the sdcard. You need root to delete system apps.
