Help blown speaker EVO.

I have had my EVO for about two months or so with no problems until yesterday, I pulled the back off and slightly blew on the speaker to remove the little bit of dust that I noticed on there, someone called me almost right afterword and I noticed the speaker was totally blown. The same ting happened to my previous phone, the hero. and just like the hero, there is dust coming into the phone and showing in the top left corner, and it looks terrible when the screen is off, I keep the phone in a leather case on my belt and it is almost never in my pocket. so I guess what I am getting at is, DO NOT BLOW ON YOUR SPEAKER!!! I took the phone into sprint and the guy I deal with all the time took one look at it, and ordered me a new one, like it happens all the time. I just wanted to get this out there and see if anyone else has had either of these problems and the way they solved the problem. thanks!
 
I have a friend that got an evo with a line through the screen.
Evo #2 had a blown speaker
Evo #3 was perfect.

They seem to be on it if you have problems, so thats nice. Hopefully you get as lucky
 
The speaker on the back of mine went out. Still worked and could understand it but its just sounded like crap. Took it to the Sprint store and 2 days later I had a new one no questions asked.
 
I'm gonna have to go into the store cause mines is blown 2. Maybe I will get as lucky as you.


You shouldn't have to hope for luck, it is not your fault, the defect is a factory one, a bad design, or just something that happens to certain phones, they should get you a new one, no questions asked. let us know the result.
 
Same thing, speaker was blown in my hero and now it is blown on my EVO.

Thing is, since I blew my hero speaker...I was cautious with my evo and didn't use it very much at all....still it is blown.

Wonder if this is an HTC problem.

Not sure, I really jammed my speakerphone on my hero...but didn't use it at all on my evo other than normal rings/alarms clocks...


Anyone know how I go about getting sprint to send me a new one? Do they send it then I send mine back to them once I get the new one?

I rock out on my Evo all the time.. maybe its just some.

When i had my blackberry, the bluetooth radio went bad. So the store (Sprint service center) ordered a new one, and had it shipped to the store. About 3 days later i went and exchanged phones with them.
Id imagine it would be something along those lines. Maybe longer than 3 days though
 
i had that problem. i rarely played music on it. but blown the speaker 3 times. they replaced it. the third time they fixed it and it has been fine since and i have been playing it at full volume. i work in a metal shop and i have metal shavings on the ear piece due to the magnets.

I contacted a Sprint Rep yesterday via chat just to know what they had to say about,their first sentence about it was call Assurion!!!.

So was like hey lady this does not have anything to with insurance so why do I have to go trough Asurion and pay $100.00 when this should be replaces under warranty no questions asked........uuuuuuuuh let me check.

Yes you are right take it to your nearest store,the is still under a one year guarantee and they should be able to give you a new device at the store.

As soon as the store opens I will be walking in with this thing on full blast. Lets see what they have to say @ the store.
 
Just curious anyone with blown speakers.

- Do you keep your phone in your pocket?

- Do you work in a place with metal filing's like a machine shop?

- Or a high dust environment?

Just wondering because I know it was a problem with the pre. It happened to mine. Basically the speakers magnet would attract metal particles and it would not be blown per se it just would no longer move like it should do to the build up of particles.

I do construction, but honestly.... my hero was about 3 months old when the speaker blew and now about the same for my EVO.

There are a few people where I work with Iphones and Droids who absolutely abuse their phones and have no issues....I love HTC but the physical quality of their phones kinda suck.
 
so i just got home after the sprint store and yes, they replaced my phone, i got a refurb, but hey, whatever, anyways, i bought an otter box, the thing is absolutely amazing, it is a three peice case, it protects everything with little rubber flaps, and the camera lens does not stick out anymore, it was damn near 40 bucks but looks great. has absolutely nothing to do with the speaker situation but thought i might share.
 
Had this happen to me. Same situation I blew some dust off the back speaker then no sound was playing from music or when i got a call. I opened the back again and all i did was wipe my finger over the speaker and magically it started working again. I don't know why blowing on the speaker makes it mess up at times but that what i did and it started working again.
