Help bluetooth audio distortion

I am experiencing audio distortion (crackling crackle) when using my HTC Incredible paired with my car stereo via bluetooth. Slacker is most distorted. So I tried Pandora with the High Audio Quality setting, but am still experiencing distortion especially with songs that have a lot of bass. I just installed last.fm and will be testing that out.

Just as a side note I did a brief test with some mp3s copied to my phone and they seemed to play distortion free.

I tried lowering the volume on the phone.

I tried messing with the car stereo equalizer.

I never experienced these issues with any other phone.

I love the phone but this really puts a damper on things because this is one of the main things I want to use the phone for. I really hope this is only a software issue.
 
not to mock your tech skills..

Make sure to have the audio cranked up on your phone, the media volume that is.

If its low on the phone and you try to turn it up on your stereo then you are going to get a crappy sound..

My brother had the same type of problem at his cabin. He had a stereo hooked up to a secondary volume knob, the stereo was at a looow volume and he was only cranking up the secondary volume and it sounded like garbage.

btw.. i just listened to my DI for the first time with my bluetooth headphones and it sounded great..

well.. as great as bluetooth headsets can sound.. But it was clean and clear.

I turned up the media volume to full on my DI and then used the volume settings on my headphones to adjust the volume from there.
 
So I still have not found a solution to this problem. I'm pretty frustrated since Pandora and Slacker was the only means of music I used in my car. I have tried everything. Reinstalling apps, volume levels, re pairing the bluetooth, the car stereo equalizer, application settings. Nothing has solved this issue. I am really disappointed.

I tried using my aux cable instead which works but it will only work if I disable bluetooth and then I can't take calls. I am surprised no one else is experiencing this issue? I have a Pioneer DEH-P6100BT.

I did a little searching and found that other people are having the same issue and have seen no fix.
 
This has nothing to do with your bluetooth. I have been experiencing the same issue. I have been in contact with Pandora personally, and they said they know about this issue and are working on it. Based on my knowledge, it is a problem with Pandora. Their application on phone is not optimized. It has nothing to do with your phone or bluetooth or car stereo. What version of android do you have on your phone? I hope it's not the 2.1 or 2.2 since they told me upgrading my phone from 1.6 to 2.1 can potentially fix this issue. (I have a Sony Ericsson X10 with android 1.6 -- soon to be upgraded to 2.1)

And in response to Greenrolaids, the problem is coming from the volume of the application being too high actually! So lowering it by Pandora must help this issue. This is not a simple volume on the phone, I am talking about the amplitude of the signal that they send over the internet to their application on the phone.
