Help Bluetooth Car pairing problem

My TB will do phone calls and pair up with the MyGIG radio in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but won't stream music correctly over Bluetooth. It skips and plays too fast. On the Jeep forums, the same problem happens with the EVO and the Incredible. My original Moto Droid worked perfectly. Definitely a problem with HTC. Also my TB won't stream music to my Moto Bluetooth Stereo Headset (again the Droid worked perfectly). This sucks. Maybe a deal breaker for me. May have to wait for Motos 4.3 inch 4G phone to come out. :(

Exact same issue I am having in my 2011 Wrangler unlimited, with a Samsung Mesmerize. I've been a member of this forum for a while, but I stumbled across this response from a google-wide search for solutions.

There are forums all over the spectrum (Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep) related to uconnect complaining of these same issues. Android phones running 2.1 or higher and iPhones running 4.0 or higher all run into the same problem. I am wondering if it is a Bluetooth version incompatibility with uconnect. All I have been able to discover at this point is that Chrysler has not released a firmware upgrade or a TSB that I am aware of.

Same exact issue with my wrangler 2011. Crazy! Heading to Verizon today see what they say!

Good luck with that. If you have success with a rep in a retail store on a needle in a haystack problem like this, let me know. I'll send you out to buy my next round of lotter tickets. :D

I also have a pioneer premier double din and am having trouble getting the Tbolt to connect as BT Audio. The Telephone connection works fine but it won't connect as BT Audio.

This worked no problem with my Moto Droid1 and I have tried un-pairing, earasing BT memory multiple times. Keeps saying paired device "no data".

Any ideas?

*Update*

I have fixed my issue with the bt audio function.

My head-unit auto connects to the Thunderbolt when I start my truck and was only connecting in telephone mode. After it was connected, I disconnected it using the head-unit controls and then went into bt audio mode and connected it that way.

It now auto connects in bt audo and bt telephone upon startup - strange that I didn't have to do this with the moto droid but at least it works.

I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee as well...Thunderbolt was working with the 430N radio. Rooted the phone with stock rom and only removed bloat ware. Now having an issue with pairing the phone.

So I confirmed the issue is the phone book download. If i decline, it works fine. What I need to do is find another phone which I can load my phone book and sync. Then it should have the phone book and handsfree working.

The bluetooth problems are power management related. It cuts power so much the chip turns off sometimes. Other times it causes sporatic problems. Sometimes the chip is on at such low power it cant recieve off and on signals and that makes you have to reboot the phone.

There trying to get bluetooth power savings out of the phone like the iphone has. But even apple has power management problems. IPad2 wifi is the same, cuts power more and more untill it drops signal. Than it ramps up and reconnects. Thats the connect disconnect problem there having.

This sounds right to me. My thunderbolt downloaded its address book fine, and initially connected fine as well. It would disconnect after about a minute UNLESS I am playing music through it, in which case it stays connected indefinitely. If I stop playing music it will disconnect a minute later. That makes me suspect that the phone is indeed trying to conserve power after a period of non-use.

I hope that's true because it will be something easily fixed via update.

I have the same problem in my 2011 Camaro, however, I don't recall given an option to sync contacts, at first it worked great, but lately its been disconnecting while in the middle of a call, then when it connects while on a conversation using speaker my HUD or car stereo will say "unknown", its really annoying. I have an actual bluetooth ear piece that works great, not sure why there are so many problems when using the bluetooth on the car. Its really really annoying.

i forgot to mention, how do you stream music via bluetooth, does that only apply to the music already on your phone, or does that work with Slacker, Pandora, etc?

No, I have the older IDrive sw.

I have a new x6 with iDrive and am having similar issues. It is definitely the phone and not iDrive as I had no issues with my iPhone 3GS. UNFORGIVABLE Google! You may lose me back to Apple before our one month anniversary...

As for the actual issue, I originally tested the WiFi and reconfiguring the phone (with Option button on iDrive). I then suspected it was the address book because it was loading contacts very slowly. I started searching and saw this post on another forum I thought I would share:

POST:

"If I pair my EVO to the iDrive system and let it sync my address book the connection immediately drops and will never work again.

If I pair the EVO and iDrive system, and then Deny the iDrive request to read the Phonebook the connection remains alive. I can then place/receive calls, and stream music."

"What if you download a BT transfer app and use that to move your contacts?

There's an app in the market called Bluetooth File Transfer. Maybe you can download it and pair it to your BMW to move the contacts. If that works all you have to do is deny the requests so you can make/receive calls until someone comes out with a fix."

Gonna try this tonight. Will keep you posted.

Chrysler has just released a SW update for the Uconnect system. The TSB # is 08-036-11. The actual problem is in the phone but the Uconnect engs have come up with the update that works. Also HTC just came out with their SW update after I sent them traces on the EVO & the Shift issues. The have changed from Android 2.2 to Android 2.3.3, I have tested this before it became an OTA update.
The Uconnect Update with help with the HTC, Samsung (except for the recent update to Android 2.2 on the captivate, Transform & Epic. The PB will not download), Motorola Droid2 & pro and a few other phones out there.

Any more updates to this, I just picked up my 2011 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon last night and this will be my first use of the bluetooth and uconnect.

Thanks
