Bluetooth connection

Is there a way I can connect my Galaxy S2 to my friend's GNEX via bluetooth? Both phones are rooted. Just wanting to send files and we have also seen some multiplayer games on google play which are used through bluetooth. However our phones do not even pick up each other.
 
You both need to turn bluetooth on, and make your devices visible.
Once paired, just go into MyFiles (or similar app), long press the file, and Share, Bluetooth

That's what we tried. however our phones simply say no devices found. For some reason they do not pick up each other.
