Help Bluetooth & handfree issues, cannot receive calls

flora1972

Lurker
I have had my HTC Desire for almost a year now. As I do a lot of calls whilst driving, I am always plugged into my blue tooth headset which is a Jabra.

I occasionally have connection issues between the phone and the headset but generally I just restart one or the other and it then works but the main problem which I am finding annoying is that I cannot seem to receive calls on the headset, though I can dial out fine.

When someone calls me - I can hear a ring tone in my ear piece as well as the phone ringing itself but it wont auto pickup and connect the call, if I press the earpiece it cuts off the call, and if I tap the ANSWER button on the screen the call comes through but to the phone only and not the earpiece.

I usually have to end up shouting to the phone "I'll call you back - hang up"

My old Nokia had a setting which Auto connected the call whilst headsets/handsfree were plugged in... HTC Desire doesn't appear to have this in its settings.

Its a really annoying issue esp if I want to make and receive calls safely whilst on the road.

Has anyone had the same issue and / or can anyone help?

I use mine with a pioneer stereo. If I answer on the phone the call goes to the phone just the same as with your head set. I have always assumed this is correct behaviour although I would like the option of a setting to stop it.
If I answer on the pioneer or set the pioneer to auto answer it works fine so I think you have to find a way to get the Jabra to answer the call. If it cannot then I think you have had it and will have to try another headset. I assume you have tried re-pairing as suggested above? and checked the manual on the Jabra for anything.
Having said that I have a friend at work who was having a similar problem with a bluetooth kit without an auto answer feature and I'm sure he found a way around it with an app of some sort. He has finished for the holidays unfortunately so I can't ask him.

Lazy car app has the following statement in the description "HTC auto-answer with bluetooth doesn't work until someone will find a fix - sorry all HTC users" which does not sound very encouraging.

I found the name of that app. It was AutoAnswer (no space) by Everysoft. My friend claims it works brilliantly on his Desire

Hi Flora1972

Excatly the same problems I have. Very random auto connection, and not connection. Have you found a solution to your problem ?
