Help Bluetooth Keyboard Case

Hmm, I appreciate everyone's feedback. I like the idea of mounting it to the door. I had honestly thought of buying a triumph hard plastic case and trying to take apart whatever sliding mechanism the keyboard has and trying to add it to the case somehow. The most recent case that I was looking into was

THIS. It appealed to me because of the fact that you have to buy the keyboard and attach it. PLUS the whole mechanism thing seems like I would be able to cut and attach it easier. If I went down this route I'm almost certain that the keyboard would work because I've seen the keyboard that goes into this case being billed as a ps3, android, iphone, and or tablet keyboard in different listings.

what I really want to do is find someone who can do technical rendering and CAD to make a 3D model of the Triumphs plastic shell and cnc a new one out of allumnium or maybe 3D print it. im really tired of how flimsy it is. i can bend the entire phone with almost no pressure. that scares me

modifiying the back and adding a sliding mechanism would be so easy if you can just print a new case with the parts embedded in it

If I was still in school I could use solidworks create it, then export to a cnc file or 3dprinter file and print it or use a cnc... Too bad I graduated...

Both those ideas are awesome. Makes my wanting to dremmel and glue or solder it together seem primitive. I was looking at replacement battery doors and the only one I found on ebay is FORTY bucks. Geese for a back cover. Pfft. If I could get my hands on a reasonably priced extra back cover I could look into trying to mount a keyboard mechanism to it without worrying about trashing my only back cover.

good idea. my own opionion is that you should put a wedge between the battery door and the battery itself, preferably stuck to one of the two parts. this makes it really difficult for the door to come off accidentally, as it so easily does as is. before i modded that, the door came off if i pulled the phone out of my pocket the wrong way.

furthering that idea, stick the sliding keyboard to the large flat battery door panel.

this way you can be assured the battery door will hold tight (from the wedge under it between it and the battery) and you have a solid mounting piece for that sliding keyboard. while still being able to remove and replace the battery.

a necessity on the Triumph ( i have 3 spare batteries that i constantly swap between)

only problem is our camera is in the middle, where the iphone camera is on the corner. so u can use the camera while that keyboard is folded up. for us though, it might still block the lens or flash bulb EVEN when its extended fully.

id like to see someone test that!!
Sorry that I missed your post earlier, I am looking at my phone's battery cover and the battery, wedging means to split? I do not understand what you mean can you go into detail from one step to another, I'll be here. As for the Camera, that is to be looked it at sometime.

Info about the keypad: (should be the same as the iPhone I assume)

Bluetooth version: Bluetooth 2.0
Keypad dimensions: 118 x 62 x 18mm (folded)
From mm to inches: 4.64 x 2.44 x 0.70inches
4.8in x 2.6in on our triumph
Close winner here :)

All bluetooth keyboards should work on the MT unless they utilize bluetooth 3.0 which the MT only has 2.1. And it could be a possibility considering iPhone 4s have bluetooth 3.0 I believe.
I checked the no name keyboard, it uses Bluetooth 2.0. There is a chance it may work. I'm gonna sell my iControlPad to make some money and buy that keyboard. If it doesn't work, I'll confirm that here.

I got a response from two of the sellers. They each told me that it was made to only fit an iphone. Sigh. I made it clear in my initial email to them that I understood it was only for iphones and wanted to solely know about the keyboard's bluetooth's compatibility. I think I'm heading your route with that generic keyboard too. Although I still have a gut feeling that it's plausible with the "iphone only" one.

If the keyboard dont work, we can always have the option to refund. Most noname keyboards has bluetooth capability of 2.0, the Triumph Bluetooth chip is hardware capible 2.1 but like when I try to pair with the iControlPad in SSP, HID and HID packet mode, all connections got refused. Maybe its limited by the CM7 ROM but eventually I wanna try the pairing again in CM9. So for now, YMMY if ill work, I really hope it does.

A bluetooth connection can't be iPhone only. They use the same exact bluetooth as every other phone. Well as newer ones anyways. The fact that the keyboard is made for bluetooth 2.0 connection means it will connect to the MT its just a matter of getting the software to support it if it doesn't work natively. I can almost guarantee it will work with cm9 with out having to do anything but pair it.

This is great information, I know bluetooth wasnt meant to be used on one device, it has to universal, just as we use our headsets, game controllers, you name it. I will try to get my hands on the keyboard using the your money (from the PSP I sold to you) and try this out on CM7 with pairing software and CM9 in the near future. That will be the first step, then the modding of the keyboard can come in discussion. :-)

I have some light to the Bluetooth connecting:
Hey guys

I could never get my stoaway portable keyboard to work on my Motorola Triumph. This week I changed over to CM7 and decided to see if my keyboard would work. It now works great. I'm so happy. I love this little keyboard.

I do have a question: I now have a popup that comes on screen about every 5 seconds that says, "Bluetooth Keyboard Easy Connect has been granted Superuser permissions." I can work around that but would prefer not to see it popup every 5 seconds while I'm using my keyboard.

Any suggestions as to how to keep it from popping up other than to turn it off.

Thanks and thanks again for writing such a great program.

David

It is more possible to connect a BT keyboard (or HID device) on the Triumph at least with CM7. We have a chance to make this Triumph into a Intercept! :D (Someone: OMG don't remind me). Chill dude, with this keyboard attached to the Triumph, you will have a lot of screen real estate to see when you type ;)

Does anyone know if the triumph supports the bluetooth HID profile?? Im thinking about getting a bluetooth keyboard?? I see most of the keyboards require a HID profile. Thanks

I can say that it work(s)(ed) for me on my Triumph running cyanogenmod 7. I paired my keyboard w/ touchpad(mouse), and it showed a mouse on my screen that i could click with. It worked well. however, I've sold my triumph. :)

I have an extra from a replacement phone that I'm willing to donate to the cause for free. I would love to see the Triumph with a keyboard.

Hey, I just measured the keyboard of of my verizion motorola droid (1st gen droid). Its keyboard is 5" from side to side just like the the one that you all were showing in links on amazon and ebay. Their dimensions are 5 x 0.2 x 2 inches ; 6.1 ounces . I paired up my keyboard off my droid to the back of my triumph. To be honest to get away from messing up the camera and flash you need a 4" keyboard. Now on the drid if you were to measure from the start of the keypad to the other side of the touchpad arrow thingy it measures 4" exactly. it is possible to put a bluetooth version keyboard on the triumph. Im debating on creating this in time because I loved my droid qualities but liked the triumphs screen size and plans. I just am a fast typer and screen keyboard always messes up for me. Ill let you all know what I find and/or create.

Ok here is exactly what we need (kiano 4 iphone keyboard) ... just cheaper. it would pair up with the bluetooth (bluetooth 2.0) as well as fit. I say cut the sides off the case and leave the lip parts so that it can hold yout triumph. I made a crappy rendering of the idea. The keyboard is pretty sweet, and only 4" long and would fit perfectly. Im looking for a cheaper version. $100.00 to hack it up to fit the triumph is pretty steep.

Check out boxwave... They make a vertical keyboard for iPhone and it slides out from the bottom.. Still 50 bucks tho..
