Help Bluetooth not paring with car

Going from a S3 with bluetooth version 4.xxx and on android 4.1.2 my phone paired without issues. Now attempting to pair my M8 (bluetooth 6.xxx on kitkat) and my phone sees my Mazda and looks to pair but it doesn't complete the process. Typically my car would ask me to name the device once that step is complete I would see two little icons on my cars screen. One is a phone icon and the other for media. I had read several posts with people experiencing the same issues with the latest version of android and bluetooth. Does anyone know for sure if it is actually a bug in the latest software? I just hope it isn't my car that is having the issue. Car isn't that old, 2012 Mazda.

Mine has paired with my DD (09 Pontiac G5) and my 14 Jetta .. plays audio and calls on the jetta -- synced contacts and everything no problem.
