Help Bluetooth not working :(

TKR99

Lurker
Hi all
First post here, & first time owner of a (2ndhand) Galaxy SII. I've been trying to get this phone to connect to Bluetooth but it won't. It starts to & shows the msg Turning on Bluetooth, then reverts back to Turn on Bluetooth etc. I'm really just trying to figure out whether this is a fixable fault or whether I need to return the phone as I've only just got it & have 10 days to return it in. I'm also trying to figure out how I copy all my msgs over from my HTC WIldfire if anyone perhaps knows?

Thanks

Hello and welcome to Android Forums TKR99! :)

It is always difficult to comment on a pre-used phone as one is not aware of the phone's history. For instance... is it rooted? Running a custom ROM? Is it on the latest firmware? Is it using the correct firmware for the phone's CSC code? and the list goes on.

My suggestion would be to start from a clean slate and Factory Data Reset the phone and flash the latest stock Samsung firmware for your phone's CSC code so that you have a starting point to work from.

Details of how to do a Factory Reset are described in Firmware update problems... what you can do!

How to locate your CSC code and firmware details are shown in #1.1 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide.

How to download and flash the latest stock Samsung firmware for your phone is in #1.7 of the previously mentioned guide.

Hiya
Thanks so much for your informative reply - after all that, the seller's agreed to grant me a refund if I return it, which seems the sensible option. I did do a factory reset but that didn't solve the Bluetooth issue, & I'd offered the seller the option for me to try other methods but they'd rather I didn't (sensibly enough!!).

SO sorry for somewhat wasting your time, but it's been interesting nonetheless to discover there's a ton more to smartphones than I ever realised - more au fait with PC terminology, but some of the android stuff had me utterly stumped!

Thanks again
