Root Bluetooth pairing problem - HELP please!

I just rooted my phone and flashed GingerSteem Extreme - WOW what a difference! It is so much more responsive and boot time has been cut down by about 2/3 - I'm impressed!

Bad news is now I can't pair anything to my phone that requires a password. My little earpiece paired right up just fine but when I try to pair my computer or my car I get an error message: The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Anybody know how to fix this so that I don't have to revert to the stock ROM? Thanks!!

I had this same problem except I couldn't get it to work with my linux OS. It works with my win7 though. What you can do is get titanium backup if you dont have it already(you should have it) and back up music.apk(the purple icon) and then delete all data, then uninstall it. Reboot then let me know if that works. I tried everything before I did this.

Haven't tried it in Linux, my Linux box doesn't have Bluetooth. And how did you know I was running Windows anyhow? LOL Vista Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 1720.

Thanks for your suggestion, but it didn't seem to help the problem. I was wrong though about my car, it paired fine without me entering the password.

Things have gotten stranger though. After confirming that the Bluetooth did work in my car, I went and picked my daughter up from school. About 10 minutes after we got home she asked me to send a pic to her phone that I had taken earlier, and when I tried to bluetooth it to her it didn't work - because it showed the car STILL CONNECTED! I had to check to make sure I hadn't forgotten to turn it off LOL but I had, and I had to reboot the phone to clear the problem.

I'm thinking that maybe GingerSteem isn't for me, any suggestions for another good ROM with a different kernel? My guess is that the problem is in the kernel but I'm not confident enough yet of things to try flashing just a kernel...

There is a known problem with Gingersteem Extreme. Actually it is the Gingerfusion theme specifically. If you replace the settings apk with the settings apk out of Gingersteem 1.0 from mt michaelson, it will fix the pairing problem. Also if you search for "bluetooth error" under "search this forum", you can find the link showing a solution.

Actually, I tried your second suggestion before I wrote the post but for whatever reason it didn't seem to come up. Really strange because I remembered reading about that theme problem somewhere while I was doing my research to decide if I wanted to plunge into this and risk voiding my warranty!

Then I wound up stumbling into a variant on your first suggestion - I installed 1.0 LOL - worked out great for me because I like its theme better than the gingerfusion anyhow!

Thanks for the help! One more question as this is my first thread here, is there a way to mark this topic SOLVED as I see in so many other forums?
