Help Bluetooth Problem

NolePhin

Newbie
Everytime I pair my HTC Inspire with my car it connects fine but shortly after it disconnects. The bluetooth icon on the phone is always on but it constantly connects and disconnects. I don't think its the car cause my previous phone (iPhone 3gs) never had any issues.

Has anyone had this issue or can help me fix it? Thanks.

I have EXACTLY the same problem! I have tried a bunch of different things without any luck. The guys at the AT&T store couldn't help, they told me to take the car to the dealer that it was probably a problem with the bluetooth in the car. I know that is wrong because my Blackberry worked perfectly with it. It has become very frustrating! My only alternative is to return the phone. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone can help.

I have been having the same problem for about 3 weeks. It worked great for about a week and then I started having problems. I thought it was an app but I can't figure it out. Very, very frustrating....please help anyone?? I am thinking I will take my phone back....

I emailed HTC. This is their reply:

Lynn, I am sorry to hear that your Inspire device isn't staying connected to your Bluetooth in your car.

Please make sure that you do not have WiFi turned on as when your device searches for WiFi it is taking away from your Bluetooth. I recommend trying to connect another Bluetooth device to your HTC Inspire, this way we can tell if it is the Inspire or the Bluetooth.

Lynn, we do apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

I tried this and it didn't help. They then responded with this:

I recommend performing a factory reset on your HTC Inspire device. Please note that all data will be deleted from the HTC device as a result of this procedure. This process does NOT delete data stored on the microSD card. We recommend backing up all of your personal data before proceeding.

Turn the power off. If your HTC EVO 4G is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it.

Hold the Volume Down button.

Press and release the Power button.

You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock.

Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button.

Press and release the Power button.

Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO.

If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC EVO 4G. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

Lynn, we do apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

I tried to do the factory reset and the first step won't work!! I'm not even sure why in their response they are talking about the EVO!! UGHHH!!:(

Try changing the bluetooth pin number 1234 instead of 0000. I did this and it is working....for now anyway! This suggestion came from my son who installs stereos for a living.

The factory reset was only a temporary fix. The same problem began happening again a short while after I performed the factory reset.

The phone initially connects with the car, but a couple minutes later it disconnects. It seems to just keep connecting and disconnecting.

This is pretty frustrating.

I'm frustrated again too!!! It worked fine for a little while. Now I can use the handfree that is built into the car to make a call but it immediately goes to "private" and won't let me talk through the handsfree only through the phone.
