Help Bluetooth problem!

Okay so since I've upgraded to Froyo I've had nothing but trouble with my Captivate.

First there's the terrible lag, found the fix here:
YouTube - How to Root and Lag Fix Your Samsung Galaxy S Captivate

Then there's the battery life problem, still working on that (any help on that would be greatly appreciatted).

Now for the bluetooth problem...
My phone pairs and works with the stereo in my car until I make a phone call. Once I make one call I either have to turn off the bluetooth on my phone or reboot the phone completely (most of the time I have to reboot). I didn't have any problem like this before the update... I could be listening to Pandora through my bluetooth, make or take a call, and after I ended the call Pandora would continue playing or I could make another call. Now once a call is made my bluetooth simply stops working until reset. This is very frustrating since I spend a lot of time in my car and it's difficult to hold a phone while driving a stick!
I did a search and didn't find anything useful, if anyone has any advice please send it my way!

I'm having the same problem, currently searching around for a solution.

I drive a 2012 Honda Civic and it's handsfree system appears to be running some sort of microsoft solution.

There are bluetooth/handsfree problems all over the internet. It appears that it is not just our phones, but that does not make it any easier to accept.

I have a 2011 Jeep Rubicon with a $2000 upgraded media system that is not working properly either. Luckily my Captivate works fine as a phone (but streams music in double time and skipping all over the place..) but I am afraid to update my phone now, because it appears that this is when a lot of problems are arising. This goes for iPhones/iPods too, some work and some don't, and the ones that do sometimes lose functionality after an OS update. (there are other issues not related to bluetooth so it is bigger for me)

This has been an ongoing 4 page discussion on my Wrangler forum lately, people are right bent out of shape about it (and I can't blame them..). Not just android owners, but iPhone owners too. So you aren't alone.

I agree, the problem is not confined to the [specific brand of handsfree: uconnect in the chrysler] system only. But its not specific to Android or iOS. Its specific to Bluetooth. I won't pretend to be a code writer any more than you would an engineer, but the problem lies, in part, with the way Bluetooth hands out "standards".

As for the complaints all over the web, these complaints happen almost every time there is a change in software/firmware on one side or the other. Its nothing new, and it certainly won't change any time soon.

But its still incumbent on a manufacturer like Chrysler to maintain the firmware to reasonable levels. Having $2k-$3k factory options available in a new vehicle that cannot communicate with a device released in the same model year is not a reasonable level. They could also pressure the Bluetooth standard writers to do their job and actually write a "standard", instead of drawing up new rules for each new product

If anyone finds a fix for this, you would be considered a god all over the internet. People have been hounding Chrysler for a media firmware update and nobody has any idea if or when we are going to get one. In the meantime, it was a waste of money for a lot of people. At least I can still use my phone!! (but no media streaming...)

The only suggestion I have seen so far is to roll back your phone (mine is still on 2.1 stock) but I still have no idea if it works or if it can be done. I am staying out of the 'update to froyo' threads for now.

I had the same issue with my F150. My phone would connect, then randomly disconnect. I have found that if I turn off my Wi-Fi & only have my blue tooth running, my problems went away.

Not a permanent fix but isolates it to software and makes it somewhat manageable. Essentially Samsung cannot seem to get their Bluetooth implementation right.

May I suggest something that has worked on the HTC phones. I found that the phone book down load was being given to the bluetooth carkits in an unsupported way. If you delete your pairing from both the car kit (uconnect, sync, onstar etc) and from the phone. Start a new pairing session, this time when you are asked for permission to download the phone book, select "decline". you will be asked a few more times, just ignore it. when you leave the vehicle and come back you again will be asked for permission to DL the PB. just ignore it. With the HTC phones they had Adroid 2.2 on it, I worked with their Engs to test a new SW update that has recently been released that is a Android 2.3.3 and works fine. I have also let my contact at Samsung know about this and they say they are working on an update that they hope to release soon.
