Bluetooth Question

I have a question about bluetooth in general that I couldn't find on the internet. I just bought a pair of bluetooth headphones to pair with my Droid X for working out. They work wonderful when I am at home or running outside. The problem is when I am at the gym. I literally need to hold the phone up to my head for the signal to not cut in and out. My question is does FM transmitters interfere with the bluetooth signal that much?
The only explanation I can think of is that all the TVs in the gym are connected to FM transmitters and that is inferring with the bluetooth signal.

i had the same issue with my dx when i first got it.
i had a motorola S9 stereo bluetooth headset that worked great with my lg dare,
worked great just sitting around, but the moment i went for a bike ride with the phone in either my backpack, seat pouch, or even my shorts pocket it would cut out like crazy, not even worth trying to listen to. so i went out and bought a jabra clipper and was gonna use a decent set of skull candy headphones i like. powered up, and paired while on my way to the beach for a ride and everything was great, as soon as i got to the bike path the drop outs began and drove me crazy so i returned to clipper the same day.
i then read in the All Things Root section that many people were getting awesome stereo bluetooth results after rooting and using a custom rom. i made the plunge to liberty 1.0 at the time and bought a jabra clipper again (this time only 20 bucks after a corp discount vs 45 originally, couldnt complain) and things work great, i couldnt be happier with bluetooth now. i cant find my S9 headset to try but i am completely content with the jabra clipper.

check things out in the in the ROOT section of the forum and i would recommend throwing a custom rom on your phone. i am currently on apex 1.4.1 and things work great!
