Bluetooth stereo headphones. What are you using?

I have a new Evo 3D and my old Jabra BT 620s headphones. They work when connected to an old Samsung Moment, or my MacBook, so I'm sure it's not the headphones.

The Evo can connect to them as a headset, but if I deselect 'phone audio' the bluetooth just disconnects. No amount of resetting the headphones and rebooting the phone seems to help.

This is devastating, honestly... I was hoping that I finally would have one phone that did everything without a bug. I love these headphones... I use them all the time.

Welcome to the forums Crissa. Bummer on the headphone issues. Don't give up hope though.

I apologize, because I don't use Bluetooth for anything so I'm not really familiar with troubleshooting specifically for Bluetooth. However, there are always some good things to try.

Not sure if you are aware, but there was a software update for that model of headphones. It affected LG and Motorola phones, but you could always give that a try and see if it helps if you have not already.

• Improved the DSP algorithm to fix the static/buzz experienced sometimes when streaming music from a BT stereo phone

Maybe there could be a conflict with another application installed to the phone? In the Evo 4G forum someone posted that Stitcher was inhibiting their Bluetooth connectivity. You probably read that since I noticed you posted over there too. But sometimes it is a good idea to try working with a clean slate when nothing else has been installed to the phone. If it was me, maybe I would try and back up all my data and give a factory reset a shot?

You could also try and connect a newer (the 620s is from like 2006? Maybe they are not A2DP compatible?) pair of Bluetooth headphones and determine if it is an issue with just your model of headphones or if there is a deeper issue with the phone and how it connects/disconnects with Bluetooth media. Maybe you have a friend or co-worker with some wireless headphones you can experiment with? Or you could try a local retailer's open box/display model of some different Bluetooth headphones? You could also try connecting your current headphones to a bunch of different display phones in a Sprint store to see what works and what doesn't?

Came across some reset instruction on the net, but you have probably tried these already:

Please try a reset and re-pair of the phone and headset.

1. Turn the BT620s off.
2. Plug the headset power supply into a wall outlet.
3. Connect the headset to the power supply for 5 seconds.
4. Disconnect the headset.
5. Remove the headset from the phone Bluetooth menu.
6. Turn the phone off.
7. Remove the battery (and sim card, if removable), and hold out for 5 seconds.
8. Re-install the battery (and sim card, if applicable) and turn the phone on, but do not touch any settings.
9. Turn the headset on.
10. Put the headset into pairing mode by pressing and holding the left speaker button until you see a steady blue light (approximately 8 seconds). Release.
11. Perform the pairing procedure for the phone.

And last but not least, Rooting the phone may open up some new Bluetooth options that might help you make use of your current Headphones. Maybe not though?

Just a couple ideas for you to think over. Sorry for the length of the post, its late and I'm tired. Hope I helped you at least think a bit outside the box you are in. Keep us updated on what you figure out.

Oh, software update. Hmm, I'll need to find a PC, mine is... All over the basement ^-^; I do know that after a few hours it starts to skip, so I'd actually look forward to a firmware update for it. Thanks for pointing that out!

Yeah, they're A2DP. Almost nothing else was when I got them! PC and Mac support was terrible, getting horrible static instead of sound coming through when things went wrong. My first phone to support them could connect to them in stereo; but while connected stereo, it couldn't run any other programs. No streaming, playing only the least compressed audio possible. The phone could run Pandora, but not while using the headphones. That was really useless!

But once I got them working, I've loved them. They took me into Molten Core and kept me grooving through construction on the house alone; they've been a real friend.

Their reset process is a bit too complicated, you really only need to power it off and on into discoverable mode; that makes it forget whoever it was paired with before.

Have you tried to reset the pairings on both the Evo and the headset? Also, bluetooth backwards compatibility is a bit wonky. The Evo 3D has Bluetooth 3.0. It's backwards compatible with most 2.x devices. But if your headphones are even older than that, it's not looking good.

Someone else on this board said they had the same exact headset and had it work with an Evo 3D. But lots of 'hey, it didn't work' and 'hum, now it works...' posts about these.

And today it works! ...after attempting (and I think failing, I have no idea, really) of trying to reset the firmware.

Maybe the phone needed to download something in the background? Hard to tell, since it's a closed system.
