Root Bluetooth teathering a XOOM?

I've been Bluetooth tethering my XOOM to my OG Droid since I got it. Like this:

If I root my new Bionic will it work the same way? (I've read that WIFI hotspot/tethering isn't working well yet.)

I thought PdaNet was for tethering a Windows/Mac box to a phone. I didn't know you could use it with a different Android machine (like the Xoom).

Can you verify that you can tether a Xoom (android) to a Bionic with PdaNet?

Oh, do you have to be "Rooted"?
