Help Bluetooth tether to Archos 70 (without rooting)?

[cdl]

I have a UK Milestone (Android 2.1, not rooted) and an Archos 70 250GB (Android 2.2).
I have been trying to tether the Milestone to the Archos via Bluetooth, to share the 3g connection, but to no avail.
I can pair the two devices, but when I go to the tethering settings of the Archos, the Milestone doesn't show up. I also tried installing pda net but nothing changed.

Is rooting the Milestone the only option?

Until you get Android 2.2 rooting is the only option AFAIR.
