Help Bluetooth Tether

I use my Verizon Galaxy Nexus to tether through Bluetooth to my Nexus 7 tablet. The problem is that the Bluetooth tether option on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus keeps turning off. Is there any way to leave this option on?
 
Why don't you use the WiFi hotspot feature? It's much faster than Bluetooth and can offer a greater range/distance and the result is the same.
 
What I like about the Bluetooth feature was that I can leave it turned on with my phone and then can have a simple connect from my tablet. Plus the Bluetooth connect automatically turns off when I connect to my home or work Wi-Fi.
